...and another review. http://www.xsreviews.co.uk/reviews/misc/auzentech-prelude-71/
Ordered mine from NewEgg, shipped from California, will arrive at my door Friday...Hopefully new updated drivers will be out by then.....
alchmey prelude september? :huge-bump:
you can use a older version....126.96.36.199 will workor if you can find it the version that was modded for Audigy's. I was using ALchemy yesterday
I'm hearing a FLAC file using foobar, spdif toslink and an Onkyo ht-s970. The front speakers are both pointing towards my ears and at the same level.
The instrumental song is called Fields of November, by The Fawn String Ensemble (Norman Blake).
The violin, Jesus, I can feel nuances I never heard before.
Could it be psychological?
Gonna have to hear it again using the onboard's realtek sound device, but I'm lazy.
There is a LED on the card?
yes, a green led that flashes.
Whats its purpose, does it jump to the beat... I'm glad my case doesn't have a window. It can flash all it wants.
Ask and Ye shall receive,
that is 1.00.04, but if doesn't work I still have 1.00.03 as well.
The X-Fi Prelude reminds very strongly on the design of the CL prototypes X-Fis. (two memory chips, flash LED and much more)
it makes my pc look like a traffic like during start up, thats pretty cool.
Those *******s at Newegg are at it yet again. X-Fi Prelude is now $230.
And I was just about to order it and a Razer Copperhead...
uke3:Wow, that sucks...Glad I ordered mine Saturday when they were still 199.00..
They did the same thing with the Q6600"s .....
glad i ordered mine over the weekend at ncix... newegg is just playin the game. cant blame em, if it was urs i m pretty sure u would do the same
Here is my review if you guys want to check it out.
Well after trying lots of different settings and messing with the contol panel I can say that it does sound 100x better, I would say on par with the Razer.
I hope after some of these driver updates it would be even better.
One question though does optical out work with 5.1 with this card I cant seem to make it work in game mode.
IT does sound very good. On par with a X-Meridian or very close. You won't be able to get 5.1 in gaming mode over digital because you need Dolby Digital Live or DTS. These features will be added later on to the card. Until then digital will not work for 5.1 gaming.
Awesome review Rob. I know it sounds better than a Creative X-Fi but does it sound better than an X-Meridian? Or about the same? Are there any real difference you can here between the X-Meridian and Prelude, purely on a sound quality level in music and movies not on feature set like EAX.
