Thats gonna be one hell of a card. Too bad i already got my 2´, but anyway.

I do thik its gonna be more than just a 7% performance boost. Its 500mhz more than the xtx. Do you remember the 7800GTX 512Mb? It had 50mhz more and delivered a pretty good performance boost.

exactly , and as far as i know 2000mhz of GDDR4 is faster than 2000mhz of GDDR3

    Well GDDR4 should be faster.

I wonder... will the X1950 crossfire edition be compatible with the X1900XT?

Theres honestly no point to it. The x1950 crossfire card will wast its cycles waiting for the x1900xt

also the x1950 would have to downclock to x1900xt speeds , which defeats the object of having a x1950

It won't be significantly faster at the same clockspeed and interface width, since it will not provide any additional bandwidth. However, the point of GDDR4 is so that it can reach clockspeeds that are unobtainable with GDDR3 memory.

I'd say ****, I just bought a card, but I doubt this card would be in my price range. I spent $200 on my current one last week and I didn't want to spend anymore than that.

i for one am most interested in the new cooler it seems to have. looks like much more surface area, so better and/or quieter cooling.
as far as the rest goes, im not really interested in a rehash from a rehash, not with g80/r600 on the horizon. seriously, a lot of people are already advising against buying a high-end card now and wait untill those 2, so what is the point in this card, except as a testcase of the new process.
btw copey, how do you know these things are going to oc like mad?
and i didnt know gddr4 is faster than gddr3 at the same clocks, that sounds counterintuitive to me, as higher possible clocks means higher latencies.

So they cut x1900 series 1/2 price I hope :)

    Nope.

The card itself looks really nice... now I just hope it isnt as loud as a lawnmower.

Pointless because people who has X1900 cards dont need this. unless u want to waste money. i say save up your money and wait for oct then get the DX 10 card. if u get this card, if u have a X1900 card. dont bit*h when DX 10 ATI come out and saying u cant buy it.

Taken from the DailyTech site: "The new Radeon X1900 is a low-cost version of the existing Radeon X1900 that only uses 256MB of GDDR3, enabling the card access to the $300 price point. The Radeon X1900XT 256MB will use the same clock frequencies as other Radeon X1900XT cards: 625MHz core and 1.45GHz memory."

    X1900XT 256mb @ $300? :D. Sounds good.

From the looks of it, it looks like an AC silencer, 3rd party companies already used AC silencers on the cards already in the past (HIS, Sapphire etc...) They did say they were also going to improve cooling/loudness on the X1950s but I kinda like the design of the old cooler cause it did let the heatsink at the back get some air rather than AC silencers having it blocked off and the intake coming from the top of the fan, though I guess people thought it was too loud :p.

LOL I know. I was well up for buying that X1900GTO but now there is news of a X1900XT 256mb I am confised again. Considering we in the UJK can get a X1900XT 512 for around £250 now this 256mb version should be around £200 or roughly the same price as the GT.

Btw, anyone, what makes the differnce in game? 48 pipes like the X1900XTX or a higher clock like the 79GTX 512???
