    Why don't you take 8.723 driver with corresponding patch script by schoko? Also make sure you take patchscript for x64 version..

    Tried both FirePro_8.634_Win7x64_86103 and firepro_8.723_win7x64_98793 with no success :S.

    Hello everyone, I'm trying to do a softmod for my HD3870 to a FireGL V7700. Everything installed fine, but the scores in SPECviewperf 10 are a bit weird.

    For instance these are solidowrks scores:

    Code:
    # viewperfMT1result.txt
    # test	weight	frames/sec
    1	  12.50	     47.10
    2	  12.50	     9.830
    3	  12.50	     9.570
    4	  12.50	     12.20
    5	  12.50	     26.90
    6	  12.50	     14.40
    7	  12.50	     99.20
    8	  12.50	     17.30
    *	Composite Score :	     20.87
    I did however monitor GPU usage and it was around 50-60-70%, could it be that my CPU is bottlenecking the GPU and thus impacting on the score?

    I used driver version 8.773.1.2 and a matching patchscript.

    The patchscript (already moded):

    Code:
    [Common]
     SrcFile = atikmdag.sys
     BakFile = atikmdag.original
     MakeCRC = 1
     Packed = 1

     ; script for win7_x64 driver 8.72

     DstVar0 = force ATI FireGL V7700 capabilities

     Src0 = B8 94 00 00 00 E8 86 5B 00 00 3B C5 74 46
     SCM0 = FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 00 FF FF FF FF FF 00
     Dst0 = B8 94 00 00 00 E8 86 5B 00 00 3B C5 EB 46
     DCM0 = 00 00 00 00 00 00 FF FF 00 00 00 00 00 FF

     Src1 = B1 46 38 0B 75 B4 48
     Dst1 = B1 46 88 0B 90 90 48

     Src2 = BA 2E 00 00 00 48 8B CB E8 36 BA FF FF 85 C0 0F 84 88 00 00 00
     SCM2 = FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 00 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
     Dst2_0 = BA 2E 00 00 00 48 8B CB E8 36 BA FF FF C7 03 [B][U]01 95[/U][/B] 00 00 90 90
     DCM2 = 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 FF FF 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    ID for a HD3870 is 9501 but I did notic that my GPU is RV670 and not RV630 as the firegl one. Could this be impacting on the performance?

    Here is also a part of the moded C7117908.inf file:
    Code:
    "ATI FireGL V7700" = ati2mtag_RV630GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9501
    Patching went ok I replaced the old file with the patched one.
    Driver signing was disabled as it should (but it did warn me about the driver while installing but it didn't fail), after reboot I ran dseo and turned on test mode, rebooted pressed f8 and disabled the enforcement, in windows I signed the atikmdag.sys file in the correct location, signing went fine and then rebooted again.

    Where did I go wrong:(?

    I think the problem is that patchscript for 8.72 doesn't mach with 8.773.1.2 driver, try 8.723 driver instead ;)

    Ok it's working now as it should, thank you.
    Just one more question. CCC didn't install with the have disk method, is there any other way to install it? I read all the pages in this thread but I didn't stumble across CCC installation.

    You can install CCC manually just look into the driver directory for a folder called CCC or get it from Catalyst driver..

    First off, thanks to everyone for such an informative thread. Installation of the 8.723 drivers went off without a hitch converting an HD4890 to FP8750.

    The 8.723 driver doesn't play well with the latest Acad/3dsMAX performance plugins. Does anyone know where I might be able to the older, matching plugins that are known to work well with 8.723?

    Thanks!

    Hi Cadcat, I'm still in. Most likely by the time he gets to this, there will be several more 6000 series cards that have a FP equal. Right now I think there is only two. We may have to start there instead of the 5000 series card as the new drivers for the 6000's are already out.

    Yeah the newer the better, atm my HD4890 does still a good job but I feel its getting old..

    wo this has been a long run without a new mod. Are the new cards coming out fast enough that modding will not be needed? Would be nice to get away from ATI, it seems like it does not run that well in max, also CUDA would be nice.

    I have an HD 5700 and would love to get it working as a FirePro V5800. Any updates?

    Hi, i have been reading the thread, i have a HD 5870 1GB, id 6898 card, and i would want to try to softmod to firepro, is it possible, right?
    I have found a tutorial for mobility 5870 to v8800, ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...m/500390-g73-5870-softmod-firepro-8800-a.html ) but none for 5870 desktop.
    Theres any old patch that would work with any old firegl driver? or shall i wait for new one.
    I want to mod my card because im having a lot of "driver stop working" using 3dmax 2011 and W7 (only with direct3D, using opengl dont crash, but performance is crap), in adition to the high performance, of course.
    Bye

    Wasn't it so, that performance in 3dsmax was same with and without "pro" accelerator?
