thank you for the quick response but i am on both xp64 and i am currently using the 8.72 drivers (newest) from the amd website with schokos newest xp64 patchscript, but im worried i dont exactly know how it do it. like does it matter which fire gl im trying to make it respond as if it has the 7xGL chipset? ie 8700, 8750, etc. also on the various places where i change the dev id, am i supposed to the radeon dev id that i have installed, or the fire gl that id, and in which one do i do which. i currently makecab after just to be safe, but is that wrong? does the ammount of ram i have in the card make the process more difficult or different? i have tried the different how to guides on how to do this, but they all involve different cards and i am just supposed to fill in the blanks for my situation, but none have helped and i am forced to assume that im not filling the blanks in with the right information. so if anyone could give me some advice or even a step by step for my specific card and os that would be amazing

    sincerely,
    Dan Lewis

Smile_gerard isnt there an error here in your post? Arn't you suppose to reverse the device id numbers so it reads AO 68 in your script? Every script i have seen from Shocko has the pair of ID numbers reversed, am i missing something here?

From page one of this thread, Shocko's newby walkthrough.

First of all, thanks for everyone share this info.
    I have a Mobility HD5650, Win7 x64, and mod 8.723 into Firepro 8800.

I ran RunViewperf 1280x1024, the result as following, which shows great improvement.

    3dsmax-04 35.22
    catia-02 27.45
    ensight-03 41.76
    maya-02 162.07
    proe-04 31.34
    sw-01 68.39
    tcvis-01 29.10
    ugnx-01 41.96

However, besides UVD (AVIVO) problem, I found the photoshop CS4 lost the GPU accelerate function is gone. Is there any one having this problem?
    Thanks!

I think you must have read wrong. I just took a look at the first page and it doesn't swap at all. Have a look just copied from the first page.

I mean in the patch file not the INI file. If this was your patch it would have had 95 81 not 81 95. That fact that its working makes me even more confused. Can you try it with the way Shocko has put in his walkthrough and run specview? Maybe it will work even better :)

    @yanghy

    looks good, congrats =)

    @terrablader

I always do makecab, but I don't think its necessary..

And to the dev id.. In the DST line it has to be swapped according to every guide.. And this is the way it worked for me!

Well, I want to softmod my HD5850. I don't really need any other professional feature but I want to use my display in 10 bit/color mode. Is there any solution?

I just modded a HD5770 to V5800. Unfortunately CCC doesn't show up in the Firepro installer. So I installed it from the Radeon drivers but there's no workstation item -> no way to enable 10bit color.

Pointless, something went wrong. I used the script smile_gerard posted on notebookreview.com, but it's different from the one schoko posted on page 2 in his thread in the advanced forum. It makes the display flicker and colored bars flash up occassionally. Unfortunately schoko's script doesn't work either. (Error message saying driver not installed or not functioning properly after reboot)

Dunno, probably it's my fault. Or something's wrong with my system. Tried it a few times, at one point it wouldn't even let me install any driver, so I had to use a system backup I created before (woo!)

Wrote down the process, maybe you wanna help? :)
(Win7 x64, HD5770, devID is 68B8 according to device manager)

Before I started I uninstalled all ATI software, deleted ATI and AMD folders in %appdata%/roaming and %appdata%/local as well as all ATI/AMD related entries in the registry. Then used driversweeper to get rid of the rest.

    1. Downloaded driver: firepro_8.723_win7x64_98793.exe

    2. Extracted, then cancelled installation.

    3. In C:\AMD\FirePro_8.723_Win7x64_98793\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF I edited C7100464.inf:

    Changed to
    Then edited the Script:
(Before I used the one smile_gerard posted)

    4. Executed it (btw why does the script want to use atikmdag.sys by default although you’re supposed to use the compressed atikmdag.sy_?)

    Patched atikmdag.sy_ in C:\AMD\FirePro_8.723_Win7x64_98793\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\B100148

    5. Now I got
    • atikmdag.sys
    • atikmdag.sy_
    • atikmdag.original
    Deleted atikmdag.sy_, renamed atikmdag.sys to atikmdag.sy_

    6. Overwrote atiogl.xml with the new one from here.

    7. Used dseo13b.exe to disable signed drivers (rebooted, F8, disable driver signature enforcement)

    8. Then I installed C7100464.inf from C:\AMD\FirePro_8.723_Win7x64_98793\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF via device manager

    9. Used dseo13b.exe to sign c:\windows\system32\drivers\atikmdag.sys

    10. Rebooted

I did not uninstall/clean up the firepro drivers in between because imo that's what created the problem when win prevented me from installing any more drivers.
*sigh* all I want is 10-bit color lol

just an update to this the pci card was recognized as firegl, and runs specview at 37fps sw01 test. not bad for a pci card. so three screens are now possible actually 4 total if one wanted to. there is some issues running solidworks on the pci card when moving it from the pcie display to the pci. or trying to have sw show it on both screens (using both video cards at once)
3ds max no problem all three screens at once.

sorry to bump this but does anyone know the firegl version for this card.. HD 4350.

I just chose V3600 but an not sure if that was the right one, also I never even made a patch script for it. But it sees to be working using the patch drivers for my 2900XT above thank you again.
