    This release note provides information on the latest posting of ATI's industry leading software suite, Catalyst®. This particular software suite updates both the ATI Display Driver (version 8.221), and the Catalyst® Control Center (version 6.2). This unified driver has been further enhanced to provide the highest level of power, performance, and reliability. The ATI Catalyst® software suite is the ultimate in performance and stability.

    Caution: The Catalyst® Control Center requires that Microsoft's .NET Framework Version 1.1 be installed. Without .NET Version 1.1 installed the Catalyst® Control Center will not launch properly, and the user will see an error message as a result
    Caution: The Remote Wonder™ 3.02 software is intended to support Remote Wonder™ and Remote Wonder™ II products. Remote Wonder™ Plus user should continue to use the software provided with the product.
    Note: The ATI WDM Driver Install Bundle contains both the ATI WDM Driver versions 8.20 and 4.07. The setup program automatically detects the ATI All-in-Wonder® or ATI VIVO™ product installed in your system and installs the appropriate ATI WDM components.

    Note: As of January 1, 2004, Microsoft no longer accepted certification submissions for the Microsoft® Windows® Millennium Edition operating system. The ATI Catalyst® CREW however is committed to all its customers and is now providing non certified WHQL software drivers for users of the Windows Millennium Edition operating system. Windows Millennium Edition users can obtain the software driver at: http://www.support.ati.com/Windows 98/98SE is supported through the ME driver.
    New Features

    This release of Catalyst introduces the Catalyst® Control Center Basic View Wizard. The new Basic View Wizard provides a step by step procedure that helps users setup all of the common features found in the Catalyst® Control Center.
    Issues Resolved in Catalyst® Software Suite 6.2

    The following section provides a summary of the issues that have been resolved in the latest version of Catalyst®. These include:

    * BattleField 2 Special Forces: A blooming or ghosting effect is no longer noticed when playing the game in night vision mode. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21648
    * City of Heroes: Running Shadertest 7 no longer results in slow performance being noticed. Further details can be found in topic number 737-21463
    * Dragonshard: Playing the game under Windows XP Media Center Edition with CrossFire™ enabled, no longer results in the screen becoming out of sync, and a scrolling display image occurring shortly there after. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-20975
    * Fable: The Lost Chapters: Playing the game under Windows XP MCE may result in the shadows found within the game appearing jittery, when the desktop resolution is set to 1024x768 32bpp, and all the game options are set to default.     * Half-Life2: Enabling Catalyst AI no longer results in the outer edges of the water appear dark or black in color. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number. 737-21649
    * Pacific Fighters: A stuttering effect at certain levels of the game is no longer noticed when playing the game with CrossFire enabled. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21650
    * The Fall: A VPU Recover event or the operating system failing to respond no longer occur when playing the game. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21651
    * World of Warcraft: Pixel corruption is no longer noticed when playing the game on systems containing an ATI Radeon X1600 series. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21652
    * Attempting to install the integrated WDM driver under Windows XP no longer results in an error message being displayed indicating that the hardware is not installed because the install Wizard cannot find the necessary software.     * Catalyst™ Control Center: The preview for the Deinterlacing aspect found in the Catalyst™ Control Center is now available when using the ATI Radeon® X1300. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-20986
    * The Video Preview found in the Standard Settings aspect within the Video option of the Catalyst® Control Center, no longer fails to provide a preview after hotplugging an LCD panel to an ATI Radeon® 9500 or 9800, when selecting to extend the desktop.     * Connecting two display devices to the ATI Radeon X850 CrossFire Edition and one display device to the ATI Radeon X850 XT no longer results in the display device connected to the Radeon X850 XT still being active once CrossFire is enabled.     * The WDM Drivers is now enumerated and the Capture chip is now being detected when using the ATI Radeon® X850 XT (ViVo) as a slave card on a system containing an ATI Radeon® X850 CrossFire™ Edition. Further details on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21178

    * Alias MotionBuilder 6: Loading a model in MB6, followed by rotating the object, may result in shadows appearing corrupt and flickering being noticed. Further details can be found in topic number 737-21450
    * AutoCAD 2005: Using the 3DORBIT command to rotate or zoom may result in the display hanging for a few seconds when having hardware acceleration enabled in AutoCAD and a 3D object in the drawing. Further details can be found in topic number 737-21451

    * WARHAMMER: DAWN OF WAR: Starting a skirmish game on a 4 player map under Windows XP, may result in the game performance appearing choppy when using an ATI Radeon® X800 series, and having all of the game options set to high. Further details can be found in topic number 737-20974
    * The Apply button in the Custom settings of the Advanced mode, found within the Catalyst® Control Center Video standard settings, is grayed out when playing a media file. Further details can be found in topic number 737-497
    * Connecting an HDTV to an ATI Radeon® X700 series may result in the HDTV being detected as a CRT or TV under the Windows XP operating system. Further details can be found in topic number 737-20783
    * The PAL FM fine tuning algorithm is currently using 200 MHz bandwidth which may overlap FM channels resulting in the same FM channel being found several verdana during the scan function. Further details can be found in topic number 737-20979
    * Launching the Adobe Gamma calibration application and moving the gamma slider back and forth, may result in the Task Manager being filled with cli.exe until the system becomes low on memory. Further details can be found in topic number 737-20980

    * OpenGL Extension Viewer: 2.0: Running the Rendering tests may result in a black box appearing when the fog option is enabled. Further details can be found in topic number 737-21457

    * Catalyst Control Center: Clicking on the 3D aspect may result in an error message being displayed indicating that Preview.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. Further details can be found in topic number 737-21662
    * Attempting to re-enable any display device other than the primary or secondary display device that has been disabled by CrossFire, may result in the operating system failing to respond. Further details can be found in topic number 737-21663
    * Setting the display device to a resolution of 1024x768 or higher may result in the (PAL) TV image becoming unstable when moving the mouse. Further details can be found in topic number 737-21664

    ya a good increase... im 3dmark06 from 4809 to 5682.. with no overclocking. The first real ati drivers for the x1900xtx's look to be a very good one.

    well if u had a 1xxx card u would have a huge increase.. My bf2 still looks great. But i hated night maps.. so i never really saw the blooming affect.

    no improvment for me, i got 5-7 FPS less and lost 350 points in 3DMARK 2K3

    I think these drivers are highly optimized for the newer X1k series which is why some people (moab600 included) are noticing performance drops rather than increases.

    I found for my X800gto2 the bext driver was the Omega 5.12's

    And how these works if you don't install CCC and use them with ATT, like i do with XG 5.13's.

    With 5.13 i get now around 6550 from 05 an 2180-2200 from 06.

    Yes i know that still also 5.xx were optimzed more for x300-850PE then 9XXX but at the latest one's including 5.10-5.13 the performance were amazing great especially the softmodded once and NGO so i will look for other driver versions, now i have Softmod 5.11

    No more CP, if you want to run these drivers without CCC, try installing just the drivers and ATT(ATI Tray Tools). It works fine with them.
