We know of the problem, but, to my knowledge, have know idea what the source is, as yet.

Honestly, ATi are going to release a driver in January like they are supposed to (as they do 1x driver a month), and everyones ******* complaining about it, jesus wept.

I hear you, man. Its just that ppl are upset and anxious. They paid alot for their cards and havent been able to use them without issues of some type. Im in the same boat, so I can relate.

    Thanks Catalyst Catcher:

I'm not having any problems but I just wanna ask if you guys are focusing on optimizing driver performance or general system/software stability with each Catalyst release? I haven't had much problems with the drivers but I hope you guys are figuring out how to squeeze more juice out of our cards like our nVidia friends (without sacrificing too much image quality I hope!) :p

I just wanna know what to expect with each Catalyst release...

    thanks :]

Its great to see you are reading here as well.
Also its good to see the possible source of the problems some where having.
Thanks for the info. Very much appreciated.

    On another note.
For the guys who like to tweak things and still have the problem with the second card.
Look at mvktech.net They have a huge collection of bios files.
It might be worth to check if there is a newer bios for your card.
(Make sure to backup your own bios with gpuz before doing so! And have a pci card ready if things go really bad)

Stability is always first, followed by bug fixes and performance enhancements. If a performace improvment makes things unstable it is reworked to restore stability. Same goes for bug fixes.

Thx CatalystCatcher, its nice to see you guys having contact with the "community". It would be nice if Nvidia had same contact with its customers, but atleast you are here, a good start! ;) Keep up the good work, since 8.10(except the mishap with 8.12/4850xfire problem) my two 4850´s have been very stable and fast so youre drivers are really getting better.

You do realize that "multi" is another way of saying "more than one," right?

I can not install the new hotfix.
With installer it leaves the driver from the older hotfix with newer version number.

If i manually update the driver, or if i first uninstall the drivers completely it doesn't work.
Device manager says its corrupt, older driver work just fine. This is with a Asus 4870x2 TOP

But its no problem. I'll have to check this out again.

This hotfix seems to be the 9.1 RC1 everybody is talking about, at least performance wise :)

Okay,Okay Multi >1, but i was more thinking of Core i7/ Phenom II.
Why do they released it now? I mean Dual/quad core are already longer out.

So i thought they released it specially for Core i7/ Phenom II systems.

No, the latest hotfix is version 8.561.3...whereas the original hotfix was 8.561.8. New Cat version = higher driver version.

Installed these drivers, but now I'm getting random video crashing even with stock clocks.

Just installed these 4850's and I ran CP uninstall on all NVIDIA components + Driver Sweeper and then installed ATI after restart.

Anyone know why I might be seeing crashes? Should I try a different driver?

You can start by telling us what kind of crashing it is. Are you getting "the driver has stopped responding" messages? Didn't you have crashes on the NVIDIA card you had before the 4850's as well? Have you tried each card individually?

I'm using this set now, and they're fine. Nothing wrong with them.
