no offense guys but crossfire/ sli is the most problematic, overpriced under performing answer to get better frame rates ( no new game out can choke my single card), every driver release is buggy for you guys, the last driver bug I noticed (quite a while ago) was V-sync not working on certain games.

    I can live with that.

what i'm trying to say is it really worth it?

btw I'd love to have a crossfire set up for video encoding lol.

I disagree. My system has been running very stable until recently.
As I did not upgrade to 10.6 .7 or .8 since the reviews of these drivers were bad (especially for CF set-ups). But 10.9 got some fairly good feed-back so I tried it, and at first it did not seem to be too bad at all, until I ran into the problems I mentioned above.
As for games getting choked: Running F1-2010 with only one card surely chokes the game with a full grid in an detailed environment (e.g. Monaco or Singapore) with all settings maxed out at 1920 res. When using both cards (thanks to the 10.9 profiles) framerates are very nice all the time.

well I dont have that game yet, but I do have over 300 games that cant bring my card to its knee's, (yes most are old only 100 or so are 3 years old or newer) plus there's ways to improve framerates without losing much detail.
i don't have to run absolute max graphics to enjoy a game, nfs shift is a good example that game is beautiful and i can run max details, the only thing that screws up is the goofy physics that EA refuses to fix.
no grip racing has a remedy for that though.

and btw Mafia 2 has the best graphics ive ever seen, it runs flawless.

of course you can jump on WoW at peak times in dal and it will choke everything crossfire included, just goes to show poor performance isn't always the video card.

Ive seen crossfire setups choke on stuff single cards own....
I'm sure many people here can vouch for that.

my inout, put 10.9 on and there is micro lag frame drop im sure that i didnt get this before.. i can get easy 60fps but every 2 secs im sure i drop a few frames.

also AA looks like its reduced or not as good now for some reason.

all games i tested for this were the source engine i.e l4d2 or TF2 (which are my fave)

    Hi guys

After a long time that drivers were crap I decided to try these ones (10.9a + 10.9 application profiles).
They were appearing to work fine in the games i tried until I played dirt2. It was appearing to work fine there too in DX11 Crossfire (without overclock on the cards) all max, but after a random time of games while it has loaded the map of the next game to start and does that shaky-effect screen a split second before showing the map it crashes.

It is reproducable all the time, very annoying. I tried with Crossfire off and works fine. I also checked my system overclock although it was stable and still the same with Crossfire crashes like described above. So or my system has suddenly broken or drivers crossfire support for dirt2 has messed up. So i rolled back to Catalyst 10.4 I was stuck untill now, and guess what ... Crossfire works fine no crashes and yet better fps!!!

Because I want to use what new drivers offer like new Stream SDK(I am programmer), enhancements, new features etc can someone report the issue to CatalystMaker cause it is a pity it will still be broken in the next drivers...:wanker:

    Thanks

Catalyst 10.9a runs really nicely on mobile with modifications. DNA did a release. It also fixed the PCI-E transfer data rates between GPU and CPU for anyone that does OpenCL/GPGPU work.

Unfortunately you have to do that crappy driver enforcement, so I uninstalled it, it's annoying. Hopefully AMD won't screw mobile users on 10.10 and will have the fix also.

I've looked up the event history and found some reports regarding f1-2010, but I can't figure out from the data what the heck is going wrong ...
All I see is coded numbers like:

Level Date and Time Source Event ID Task Category
Information 30-9-2010 23:33:27 Windows Error Reporting 1001 None "Fault bucket , type 0
    Event Name: APPCRASH

    Problem signature:

@PaulvH - The F1_2010_Game.exe faulting error lies with ntdll.dll and is a common one I've seen with many other games. I believe it is a kernel error associated with Windows (ntdll.dll is a Windows system file) and likely caused by a bug in the drivers or the game itself.

    Thanks for the info.
If it was caused by a bug in the drivers I hope that it will improve with the more reliable 10.5 catalyst. I wasn't able to test it this weekend.

Support for older games seems to be less than stellar. I've encountered issues playing the original Bioshock, as well as Mass Effect.

I was getting colored vertical bands, or the screen going completely blank on my 5770 (forcing a restart). I thought it was the card at first, but then preceeded to run Kombustor on D3D, and OpenGL3, for over 4 hours a piece with no artifacts. I then ran MemtestCL to validate the GPU ram for errors, and it returned no errors. This leads me to believe there is some driver issues (I supposed it could be soemthign on the game code side as well).
