    Hi guys!
I've noticed a great performance drop in Passmark Performance Test 7 (3D) under Windows XP with drivers newer than Catalyst 9.4 and then in the Catalyst 10.4 I also noticed further performance drop in Passmark PT7 (3D). Thease bugs wasn't fixed in newer versions of Catalysts, also there are noticable performance degrades in some games such like: FarCry2, Call of Duty 4, NFSU2... I approve that the average framerate under Windows XP with 8800GT in games listed above is significantly higher than with HD4870!:eek2:

    I have such a rig:
    Phenom II x6 1055T@3.44GHz
    HIS IceQ4+ HD 4870 512MB Turbo
    ASRock 890FX Deluxe3 bios 1.80
    4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-2000 CL8
    Windows XP Pro SP3 x86

What will you say? I care about Windows XP exactly, under Windows 7 everything is okay.

Just go to Option>Internal Filters and double click the "H264/AVC (DXVA). Tick the "Disable DXVA for SD" box. You might also need to disable any external filter that using DXVA such as FFDShow.

I noticed some odd graphical glitches on GTA4 but slight increase in performance on the upside. Anyone else getting this?

this driver so far give a lot of gain: higher fps and perf in SC2 with AA enabled... Dirt2, +4fps and the min is now at 98.8fps ( 2x5870, all maxed 1920x1080).....Dirt2 run so smoothly, it's a dream ..... BC2 min fps goes to 95fps in my system ( frapsed in multiplayer party ) . gain in vantage GPu scores.... CFX support for MafiaII........ fix in world of warcraft .... CFX fixed in FF online (not as the game is good, ).

+10fps in SF4 ( not as the game need it ) .. etc etc ..

CS source bench and HL Coast give me an average fps of 300+fps ( old school bench, was reinstall them )

Fix the " non return " to 2D clock with flash acceleration who was occur on some system.

    hey :)

i can assure several things for sure since i always switch to a new driver
and re-check every game performance and look for problems.

i had zero problems since catalyst 10.5 with all of them in every game,
performance was mostly the same on my system with every catalyst
10.5 - 10.9 with minor improvements or the opposite in fps.

the only game i had textures problems with all the catalyst versions was
GTA 4. the rest of them works flawless on 1650X1080 with max settings
enabled with a very few exceptions [ Metro 2033 advanced physx was too rough for smooth fps ].

i don't know what the hell people are complaining about ATI drivers
because NVIDIA's are no better, i had 8800GT and older cards from NVIDIA and their drivers always had minor issues.

im not talking about 2 or more cards in CF since i have no experience
with a setup above one card - so i only refer to one card setup when
i say iv never encountered any problems with my card, or with my older 4850 with any catalyst version.

about 10.9 - no improvements at all in fps from 10.8, with the games iv
    tested - metro 2033 , crysis warhead , gta 4 , mafia 2 , starcraft 2 & amnesia tdd.

im happy with ATI and i have no problems at all with their drivers, again with a single card setup.

    have a nice day guys

I see you are using one graphics card, couple it with another one in crossfireX and then you'll change your view !!!

that's what i said in my post, and still i can see a lot of people complaining about bad drivers... this is strange since my 5870 is no different than
other ones when it comes to software. it might be caused by non legit games or some other reasons but not drivers.

Have been using dual 5970 since their release and the drivers have not been that bad at all until I started playing battlefield bad company 2. Up to a certain point they actually fixed the loading times and they were nearly instant(cannot remember what release this was). I quit playing bfbc2 for a while and updated drivers as soon as they were released. No real problems in any other games until I started playing some bfbc2 again and stumbled across 10.8 & 10.9.

BSOD, CTD in bfbc2, slow loading times in bfbc2, jumpy performance in bfbc2, BSOD in L4D.

From what I read many mentioned 10.5 so after some experimenting I decided to try this out and it seemed like the best driver for bfbc2, good performance, fast loading times and no more crashes.

EDIT: After using the NEW 2.5 DriverSweeper that can be found here I cleaned out alot of crap that the old sweeper could not find. Upon this I installed 10.9a & the 10.9 CAP.

Now everything worked alot better but bfbc2 still crashed to desktop after a an hour or two. Loading times are average, frame rate are top notch.

Recommended to use the new driver sweeper AFTER uninstalling from control panel and then drive sweep IN SAFE MODE with 2.5.

Do not get too sensitive man, it is only a product !
I have been using ATI since the 3870 series and drivers have been a hit or a miss, but lately they have been mostly a miss for me as I always use multi card setup.

Also after trying the 2 GTX480 I tell you, crossfire doesn't scale as good as SLI.

Yeah we get it. He was just pointing out that if you paid attention to the thousands of posts on this topic you would see that the majority of issues arise with people using x2 cards or running crossfire. We already know single GPU setups are fine.

I used Driver cleaner, app profiles? are you saying download the drivers, and then download CCC instead of the whole Catalyst Software Suite ? I went and install MSI Afterburner so I could use the Card Fan Speed Control. and well MSI Afterburner and CCC Conflick with each other. Thank You for

These drivers are no good for me in BFBC2. Going back to the good old 10.5's.

I had the 10.5s and there would be a line that would go across the Monitor while I played but the 10.9 and it seems to be gone

For people having problems with BFBC2, have you tried renaming the four D3Dxxxxxx.dll files in the game folder? These are apparently older files and renaming (or removing them, although that isn't recommended) will force the game to use the newer ones in the Windows folder. It's something I read on another forum.
