dang it! i guess i'll hang back with the 10.5 drivers since they work well with Borderlands. With 10.6, Borderlands exhibits a major problem akin to a memory leak. After around 30 minutes of playing, Borderlands will minimize itself down to the taskbar and windows 7 will display a message saying that this application/game has a problem etc... When I checked the list of running processes in task manager, it showed Borderlands as using almost 3GB!

10.6 and 10.7 seems to have broken Crossfire in games with my 4870 X2. Which I see other 4870 X2 owners also confirming.

Is this Crossfire problem just with the 4870 X2 or are other Crossfire configurations having this problem too?

I haven't seen a driver past 10.5 hotfix that doesn't have crossfire performance issues.

They're all crap to be honest..

    10.7 OpenGL ES 2.0? = Vsync broken

    10.8 Beta 5 = Vsync broken

10.7 WHQL = GPU acceleration with VLC player dont work with my 4850,must be only for 5 series.

Btw,i need Vsync, keeps my card nice n cool and fan noise down.

So i duno which to install now,may try 10.5 again tho the last stable driver i remember is 10.3a,i play Second Life a lot and that is opengl, any tips to wot drivers i shud use? :(

Well, that's weird... Did you use a program like driver cleaner to get rid of the old drivers files? I tested the 10.7 WHQL on my friend's PC — he's got an HD4770 —, and everything works as it should. Well... actually, it seems that the framerate in BF:BC2 is lower — felt too lazy to install FRAPS —, but it's smoother anyway, which is what matters to me.

Video acceleration in VLC works! :D I set the video output module to the second “DirectX” module.

I dont see any second “DirectX” module :(

EDIT; Oh and i did use driver sweeper and all the other proggys to clean the crap, think i need a fresh install of win 7 anyway,i maybe have some crap that wont shift until i do reinstall. Too many beta drivers been in n out of my comp over the last few months, every time i clean it up now gpuz still says i have 10.6 installed.

Just use this cleaner and you are ready to go.

Uninstall all the ATI software, restart, run cleaner (Run it as administrator) and install the drivers you want.

Depend in what games maybe ... the only game i get problem was BC2 ( with first 10.6) so far BC2 run perfectly fine on 10.7 ( frapsed for confirm fps, crossfire really work ) but i have not get the time to test to all maps for really test all ( i play only multiplayer ) ... Dirt2 still run perfectly ( never got problem with it anyway ) ... will try MassEffect2 when i have 2 min for check and other games.

Edit ME2 run perfectly in CFX ( both cards run between 87-100% )

Seems like that did the trick, after uninstall.. it left me with cat 9.7,i'll see how things go with 10.7's now. VLC seems to be using a bit of GPU acceleration,i see approx 10% GPU activity and 10% on the CPU,i dont play much HD anyway, its just the vsync i need more than anything else, and of course, stability!

Thanks for the tip anyway :)

    No problem.

    Glad to help.
Also, you may want to take a look at this OpenGL switcher.
    http://www.mediafire.com/?ihmjytc2jma
Change it to version 9.12 and try Second Life again.
The only little problem you may have is that to revert back to the OGL driver of 10.7 you may need to reinstall the driver, so be warned.

    Best of luck

Might try that another day, vsync wasnt working for me on those drivers,is there a performance increase with this OpenGL switcher? if not then i'll try all that when i get some spare time, thanks again :)

just update from 10.5 to 10.7
    so far nothing wrong except

it seems when playback video (either on youtube or vlc)
the memory clock drop to 900mhz from 1000mhz
also i see black line on the clock transition

    is this normal ?
i think i had similar issue on 10.5 but didnt mention carefully the memory clock

I'm having problems on 10.6 and 10.7. 10.5 hotfix doesn't have the problem. Whenever I try to play bfbc2 it is set to 1920x1080 like I want but it stretches the resolution vertically so that the mouse icon is not actually exactly where it appears to be. If I disable my 2nd monitor the issue is not there... Any suggestions?
