ATI Catalyst 10.6 Bad Company 2 Hotfix

Wouldn't have bothered releasing that profile ATi if i were you, as thats more slagging coming your way now

 

Did you install over the 10.6 profiles, or uninstalled them first?

Doubled my HD5970 FPS compared to previous Approfile, but is still a wopping 25-30fps or 25-30% slower then 10.4a, and even double that in Squad/Weap menus.. I always said that this was an driver flaw, and was surprised when supposedly a new approfile would fix it, but it looks like I was right... And ATI only states better performance with this approfile, not that it's back to what it should be..

 

it's not working for me...it's smoother but not better as it was with 8.74 beta or 10.5 hotfix...oh come on ati..it's so tiring...the same thing all the time...:bang:

 

Pfft this hotfix app profile did diddly squat on my 4870x2...did anyone at ati test it on anything other that the 5xxx series, do the 4xxx users and below have to wait for hotfix 10.6d_bfbc2 hotfix deluxe_working++ like the last 3 months?

I uninstalled the 'faulty' profiles before installing these but did not reinstall the 10.6 drivers.

I've just double-checked the game with v-sync turned off in D3DOverrider and I can confirm that I get between 80 and 190 fps depending on whether I'm looking ahead, at the ground or sky in the level of the single player campaign I'm on. GPU usage shows at 99% on both cores. Seems to be fixed for me and back to what it was in the 10.5a drivers.

Don't remember the low framerate in the loading screens though but since they don't affect the gameplay I'm not too worried about them.

 

They do double the unseemly low FPS I had on BC2, but they are still over 25% slower then 10.4a/10.5a, read more here: http://www.rage3d.com/board/showpost.php?p=1336288314&postcount=121 so performance is not back to 10.4a/10.5a levels, by a long shot.. However, it's better, and thats all ATI promised with this approfile, just improvements in crossfire...

If you play hardcore, the grey spawnscreen with ~10 fps they fixed with 10.4a/10.5a is back, making weap/squad selection a dreadful experience.... And yes, the pre 10.4 loadscreen fpsdips are back with 10.6...

 

why bring out 10.6 if everything is suposed to be broken,i tried 10.6 but had no control panel went back to 10.5 and no panel.even tried 10.4,used driver sweeper,drivers installed and worked but no ccc cant even get physx mod to work,now im begining to wonder if ati have done something to prevent the use of physx as well as nvidia,if i have to reinstall windows i have have to reinstall over 200gig of apps and games not to mentions all my steam games,i have backed steam games up but its still a pain in the but.
now for an update to my problems,after uninstalling drivers several times i eventually got ccc working with ati 10.6,i had to install 10.4 then 10.5 over the top and then 10.6 and hey presto,now for the physx issue,not being able to get physx mod to run anymore huh,i`d already got to ati 10.6 drivers so i installed nvidia drivers 196.21 ,booted in to safe mode ran the mod baked a cake lol and it worked,physx now back on,then installed nvidia 257.15_desktop_win7_winvista_32bit_international_beta,rebooted in safe mode rebaked,now the suprising part was that the bake option was available,anyway after baking i rebooted ,check nvidia drivers for physx option but there wasd no option then i ran fluid mark and sure enough it was using hardware physx with a score of @10000,max frames 444 min fps 144,im gonna try the safe mode routine when the next compatible drivers come out,i tried the 258.49-win7-winvista-32bit-english-whql but they are for quadro only,havnt tried nvidia 257.15 drivers without baking yet,maybe later in the week,i want to enjoy my pc running normal for a while lol

 

wth when are they going to include the 4000 series hotfix in the final driver?

Tried the new profile, it improved the BFBC2 performance some but still poor. Still about 50% less that 10.4a and HUGE dips in the weapons selection menu. And only 60% GPU usage on both cores.

Something is not right.

In the weapon menu it goes to 30 fps. In game still dipping into 40-50's. The game used to run solid 60 fps before, and without vsync 100+.

Come on ATI wtf, the updated crossfire profile is just a band aid.

 

i am so sick of those monkeys at ATI... i might just get two of those single slot Galaxy 470 GTX and get this over with!

I am running the HD4870X2 and the loading bug is still not included in the 10.6 drivers. However, if I turn off AI so crossfire is disabled, the loading time is as good as the 10.5a hotfix drivers with AI on.
So it seems that we (the 3/4000 series) still needs to wait a little longer until ATI hopefully fix this crossfire issue with BC2.

By the way, flash and blu-ray playback, is the best ever with the 10.6 drivers.

 

Aye too bad, but no doubt we'll put it right on wednesday.

 

further to my last coment i reinstalled 10.6 drivers,i dont see what the issues are as far as games,bearing in mind that im running only 5870 (cause i cant get physx running) on a samsung 32" @1080p,bc2 works fine stalker cop works great,i have no menu issues ,no slow down and no loading problems,my vantage score was less but apart from that everything is ok
