It's ok. I just sorta hate to see the word noob thrown around at people posting issues and looking for some feedback that might be useful to resolve what they see as a problem. It would seem that there is no common theme with regard to particular hardware and/or software causing conflicts with the new 8.12 driver set. I can't imagine what could cause so many varying hardware configurations go belly up when many of these same configs had no problems with past drivers. I'm going to be building a new high end gaming pc for someone I work with and I am looking at all angles to get him the best performance for his money. I am keeping an eye on these crossfire/x2 issues and look forward to any possible solutions for them.
Hey Labyrinth what are we looking at in that screenshot? You have some issue with it that you can see and I don't notice?
I did not uninstall 8.11 before I install 8.12. I just installed over. Should I have uninstalled it first?
No, that's fine. There's absolutely no problem installing over an older version. The installation manager will take care of everything.
I'm having problems with the 8.12 also... First of all the new drivers was installed over the 8.12 beta RC3.
With my 4870x2 i just see one graphic card instead of two into the overdrive menu. I think the new drivers disabled my crossfire config.
Here are my sys specs:
DFI T3RS X48
Xp sp3 up to date.
Have you got any ideas of why official drivers disabled my "second" gpu? I'm not having problems with RC3.
Excuse my English.
I play TrackMania Forever a lot and the IQ and FPB both are a lot better now.
Smoother shadows, nice AF with lots more contrast, no more bugs when i use edge detect (it stopped aa once in a while untill now when i used that) and no more page tearing from CF.
This is definately the bomb!
O and waiting 3 minutes in stead of 30 for the encoding of movies for my psp is a nice one too, i can finally decide right before leaving the house that i want to see a movie, and before a take on jacket and ***** its done! Hell it takes more time to get it on the memory stick than to transcode now.
++ These drivers are the bomb!
***** is a certain footware, no offence xD
they working great yay
These new drivers are really great... been playing Crysis a lot over the past two evenings and the game is running smooth and stable at 1680x1050 with 2X EdgeAA (0X AA) and High settings. Makes it feel like I have a high-spec PC for a change!
Even Crysis: Warhead appears to be running better than it was before. Definitely very happy with these.
Yep good drivers so far. Half life 2 plays great sorry haven't played any other games yet.
Well I have the same issue with the 8.12's as the 8.11's.
I get the Blue screen just after logon.
Here's x1950xt, installed with absolutely no problems over RC3! More stable and far better AA/AF with these. Smooth as butter and slightly more frames too. Luckily ATI remembered the older R580 clients! These is a keeper untill some better pops out.
no issues, it's a keeper
edit: no eccentric install procedure just double click and away you go.
I think it has some problems with the new prince of persia game.
Seem to get stuck from a time to time.
BTW - COD5 run better, but yet has some unknown "slow down" here and there.
All good here, rock solid stable. All my games running very well! Keepers
any news on the error 43 in device manager?
I have 8GB, no error here.
Just do the usual uninstall procedure (driver cleaner and so on) and than try to install it.
I have 8GB here and just upgraded over the other version.
Do you have a 6pin and an 8pin pci express power plug connected? If you use 2 6pins or a6 to 8 pin adapter the overdrive doesn't work.
He probably just need's to click the lock icon and unlock the feature to enable it.
Just installed 8.12. Vista 64 and crossfired 3870s work perfect. No loss of cards.
