Do you even own the game?
The entry in the config DOES have an effect on performance with Nvidia.
I ran several benchmark passes, results are reproducible. You again are just guessing together shards of pseudo-information.
I think you are really off touch with reality, dude. Consult help.

The switch in the config may have some effect due to a change in the pipeline it inflicts. Again, according to the latest info from the dev the engine disable async submission when it detects NV's h/w, Pascal or not, via a vendor id.
As I've said, good luck. You simply don't know anything.

Why does the option cost performance with Kepler and Maxwell?

Digitalfoundry has a comparison between Quantum Break in DX11 and DX12 now. Nvidia's has a big performance gain in DX11 (Maxwell and Pascal tested) and AMD's (RX 480) performance is close to identical between the two modes.

What the ef did I pay €800 for? To get my ass kicked by cheap AMD cards? :p

    What the hell, nvidia?

You should direct this question to game's developer. Async compute should not cost performance on either Kepler or Maxwell, it just shouldn't provide any gains.

AMD is actually loosing a lot of performance on slow CPUs and loose some performance on an i7 as well: https://www.computerbase.de/2016-09/quantum-break-steam-benchmark/

Judging from the relative picture between Hawaii/Fiji and P10 I'd go as far as say that this loss of performance on an i7 CPU in DX11 is due to the lack of async compute in DX11 version of QB. It also interesting to see P10 not loosing much in DX11 which again confirms that their gains from async compute will go down even further if AMD will continue to improve their graphics pipeline.

Does anyone know what asynchronous compute is used for in Deus Ex MD? Just checked the settings in the registry and it is enabled.

Since centuries AMD cards rely more on the CPU than Nvidia Cards...I think it's related to their drivers.
For Nvidia cards an i5 it's almost the same as an i7 in not CPU limited games while with AMD you will lose more FPS... and this happens in every game

That always shuts up the AMD boys on youtube, its the "trump card" debate ender.

I thought that it's actually _dis_abled even in the latest patch.

Mine is also in RoTR registry.

AC by itself is not even giving AMD much, its only 3-5% from what I have seen.
Now DX12 low overhead is another thing.

Yeah, if only pre-emption had anything to do with async compute...
