It started shipping last month already but ASUS released the VG279QM monitor in their TUF range of products. And while we feel the refresh rate race has passed the point of common sense, it's listed... ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM has a refresh rate of 280Hz
Dunno, they are fine till there are sub 400 gpu's that can take advantage of 1440p at those refresh rates. 5700XT is barelly sufficient for me at locked 120hz at 1080p. That depends on what you are playing though.
Exactly, there is absolutely no reason to make a 144+hz 4k monitor right now as there is no hardware to power it. Unless you want to run all your games on ultra low. Even 1440p struggles most games.
Not everyone plays the latest AAA games. Almost all older games can take advantage of 4K 144Hz. Modern competitive games as well. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Others want it.
lol, $400 for 1920x1080... $400 for a 1080p monitor today is full blown Captain Insano, and BONKERS. Sorry, I just can't get excited about "1080p" in 2020. 10-12 years ago, YES. It's an outdated, legacy resolution now -- next to 1680x1050, and 720p, and should be retired soon! /rant
Plenty of "esports" games are not very demanding, even fairly slow gpus are capable of pushing 300fps+in titles like csgo at 1440p, thats the market these monitors target.
Not at 280hz, is that clear to you? Resolution is not important to everyone, people can be fine at fullHD with Msaa 4x. It still looks good.
Especially at only 27 inches. This isn't a work monitor after all it's a high fps gaming monitor. You neither need 4k nor want 4k for that purpose. Not only will it be frame killer but you'll get little benefit at that size from 4k.
A small minority. Buys RTX Titan and $1500 4K high refresh rate monitor for a 10 year old game. OK dude, the crack lay off it
