    Hi. My card is Asus Strix 980 Ti but i am left with one problem.

    There is a rattle that occurs from time to time when the fans are changing rpm,like starting games. After few minutes when i am in game, it's not a problem because it's usually locked at relatively high RPM.
    The noise also comes at COMPLETELY random times. Sometimes fans will spin to high speeds properly without noise, sometimes they will rattle for a few seconds.
    I dont know if i must RMA card for this?
    I check fan blades, and no cables hitting fan blades.

  2. Sounds like a damaged bearing, if the fans use bearings anyway

    The orientation of the damaged one could be the reason it only happens sometimes and not others, if there is a crack or something, that only hits the enclosure occasionally when it's orientated with the crack against the side of the housing, and when it's silent, the good side of the bearing is against the housing

    Otherwise, maybe muck/dust has gotten into the moving parts

    Yes but i want to know why it happens sometimes? And of course it is reason to rma? I bought card month ago.

  4. I explained why it only happens sometimes, if that is the problem

    Sounds like a bearing, had that issue with a 7950 two days ago. If it was around 1200 RPM it would hit the fins on the block, above 1200 was no issue because it sort of stabilized itself. So if I used MSI Kombustor the temps would skyrocket and the fan went straight to to max, meaning it wasn't audible beause it skipped the 1200 RPM mark ;)

    Well it's pretty simple right? Is the product functioning well?

    Yes -> No RMA
    No -> RMA

    Card overall working well. No crashes, no artifacts. But that weird random rattling for 2-3 seconds when fans accelerating and changing fan speeds driving me nuts. To hear this i must put my ears close to card. What you think ? RMA card or not?

    As said before, that's for you to decide.

    If that card was mine I would have RMA'd it. Why? Because the rattle may get more serious and eventually the fan might die.

    for the price and status of the 980ti, that would be RMA worthy for me.

    I am talking about really small rattly noise, that its very hard to heard. Maybe guys you are thinking that i am talking about loud noise. Its very small noise and its only for few seconds, then its gone. ( randomly ) . I bet that on next card i will be have similiar issue. Anyway card is stable , no single crash .

    I am confused now. But maybe i will try rma. But they cant accept this.:(

    kind of a late reply, but man, seriously, there should be no noise in that gpu. you bought a premium brand of a high end GPU.

    my MSI 4g gtx970 is inaudible up to 80% fan speed. fantastic temps and fantastic overclocking. I don't ever even need the 80% fan speed, as the card stay below 70 C with auto fan going up to 50%, but i tested it just to finally hear the fan on the card make a sound :)

    your strix should be the same. rattling noise, no matter how small, means there's a defect in the product, and you should not accept it, considering the price you paid.

    Just my opinion on the matter.

    Yeah but i can rma for this? But will Asus accept rma if it only rattles ( very quiet and small ) on certain fan speeds ? ( 1200rpm-1300 rpm ).
    Like i say its quiet and i am sitting near my pc case to hear this.Thanks for reccomendations and help here guys.
