oh what a shame it won't get into production! It could be really cool gaming on a curved screen, specially with g-synch

Well it might get into production.

    That said, it's not 4k, it's not 120hz and it's IPS.

Next monitor i get needs to be all of the above and OLED otherwise it's not worth it to me. Especially as I imagine a fair amount of my gaming will be on an Oculus or Equivalent in the near future!

Have you looked at the Acer XR341CKA? It's pretty much the same thing, comes with gsync or freesync later summer.

A new trend seems to emerge here:

Acer does the new most demanded thing FIRST.

Asus then does it second and acts like whiny bitches about it.

Either way - we have come far. Monitors are finally moving forward again... and in the right direction by the looks of it.

Wow just had a look at the Acer monitor you talk about and looks even more killer than this one! Thanks for the info guys, I'll keep an eye on both of them.

If this makes it into production with at least 120 Hz, it'll replace my Swift.

All I want is a 27" 1440p OLED monitor ... the blacks on my ASUS PB278Q ( PLS ) are starting to bother me more and more ... I'd buy one even if its 60Hz ... altough from what I've read a little while ago OLED screens are very friendly with high refresh rates !?

I have to laugh when people see a curved screen as an improvement.
Fact is, it does NOT improve picture quality nor detail.
Fact is, its done on really large screens to "remove" distortion if projected on a "flat" one.
Fact is, Samsung made tons of panels that they have to sell or otherwise write off, so of course they will state anything to sell them.
Most people are only interested because they look "different".
Shame that lg and other panel maker are now going the same route.
Fact is, oled does not yet beat "advanced" ips (or similar) screens, and brightness will drop by half within years, and isnt a third/half of most led driven screens.
So far i haven't seen any oled tv that outperformed a sony xbr series (2012 or newer) running same content.
Anyone stating otherwise please show side by side screen shots...

    I think he`s an anti-curvian...

But widescreen is the one place where the curve actually makes sense

Have you seen an IPS and an OLED side by side ? OLED will beat any "advanced" IPS in my opinion.

That's a good thing at least for me, it is a bit awkward to watch movies on a curved.

Do it in daylight oled won't look that good, i'll still take a IPS for my environment. OLED has benefits large power saving benefits plus some people like more contrast even if it's accurate that "show room" look people like for tvs.

Now make them 120hz/144hz, and it's the ultimate display. :D

    And i hope it's affordable.

True about curved screens ... could care less about curved, but mostly because it requires 21:9 format to look good on a monitor or at the very least the curved one ARE 21:9 regardless of whether they need to or not.

Compare black levels on OLED and IPS and you'll get my point ... color accuracy ? I'm pretty sure 99% of people could care less about perfect color accuracy and just want the perfect blacks an OLED can deliver ... and can't you just select Cinema style colors from a menu or smth ? OLED monitors don't need to be ultra vivid colors like you see standard on smartphones ...
As for OLED screens in bright rooms ... well ... how about a matte finish on the screen ? no need for it to be glossy ...

PS: I game in 100% dark room so OLED would be perfect for me.
PS #2: I have a 5" Sony 4k 55X9005B and altough its a top of the line TV and does have increddible picture quality, when I put it next to my fathers 50" Panasonic Plasma (VT smth - last gen pf plasma that Panasonic produced) there is no comparison in image quality as the plasma with its perfect colors and black levels look much better (ignoring of course 1080p vs 4k debate -PS: I have a lot of real 4k footage at 135-150MB/s).
I imagine OLED would look just as good with a little bit of calibration so the colors won't be oversaturated.

Even for my 980 SLI setup: too-many-pixels! :p
