My fellow Guru's I need some advice from fellow members because I have until tonight to decide on that 690.

I found locally an ASUS GTX 690 3 months old for 600euros!

Should I jump on it?? It seems like a good deal right?

Again US members take note that a 690 sells for around 850-900euros(1000-1200usd with conversion) here.

Only other options according to my needs/wants are the 780 which with the myriad of rumors and also the latest ones and speculations about the price, it seems that its price might not be that good and performance and I'm quoting here "a bit faster than the GTX 680 and GTX 670, but not a lot."

    Thanks in advance.

You would be better of waiting until the 700 series comes out. The 770 is supposed to be a 680 refresh with higher clocks and 4gb of vram standard and much cheaper than 680 4gb. I would get 2 770.

Whoever says a 780 is 'a bit' faster than 680 obviously hasn't tested said card, (or perhaps is just a diehard amd - boy, either way, wait for 700 series.

Mate check our Frontpage news..!!! :D

OK! I will provide my reasoning. Also take note this GTX 690 will be temporary until MAXWELL. So here's it is:

    Option 1:

For 600euros I get a GTX 690. Well no one can say anything bad in my book about this card besides the "Limited" VRam and average clocks. Well, correct me if I'm wrong isn't this card faster than almost everything at stock? Even our precious Titan?

Wont even mention a 1202Mhz GTX 690. Also I game at 19x10 with sometimes downsampling from 2560x1440 so VRam is perfectly FINE for me because I WILL upgrade to MAXWELL in a year.

So I believe it would suffice for a year at least.

    Option 2:

7970Ghz/680 lets average them at 400euros each since a 680 is more expensive. I get "HALF" the performance for 2/3 of the price. It doesn't sound good.

    Option 3:

I was considering the 780 but lately the rumors hint for a higher price than expected and the performance will be at best as rumors stated at 20-30% of a 680.

So I will remind you my fellow Gurus that USD prices are almost like euro prices here. Like 1000usd card is a 1000 euros card.

So lets "assume" if the 780 is around 600-700usd and it will "about" 20-30% faster than a 680, I still get a lesser card for the same price as I can get the Asus 690.

I'm not close minded. I'm open to ALL suggestions and please do jump in and give me your reasoning. I will probably help me make my decision in one way or another.

Well it will be a 'BIT' faster mate, probably about 10-15 fps in a good portion of hard to run games.

So yeah, even if they have not tested said card, ill put you money down now it will be a 'BIT' faster than a 680.

Or the alternative? it will be a fair bit faster, and as such, a lot more money.

Either way - same old same old.

Come on everyone. Throw your opinion please. I didn't start this thread for debating or whichever is better or whatever. I just need some help with my decision.

    Thanks in advance.

This is what we were debating and I do think it is relevant to your topic however I would just grab the 690 for a good price, hoe it overclocks well and enjoy it mate.

    That's my opinion.

I am pleased with my 680 sli mate, a 690 is the same thing, just slower.

If you only plan to play on 1080p then it's a great card but the 2GB frame buffer is a letdown you will run out of VRAM before you run out of gpu power.

Um no mate stock 680Sli and 690 are neck and neck and the 690 has harware frame metering instead of software based so micro stutter is reduced over the 680 sli.

It's a great card, perhaps it'll be nvidia's last value price/performance high end.
However that 2gb ain't future proof, look at the vram on the PS4 then look at nvidia's latest offerings and how much vram they sport, all this points to future games using mega amounts of the stuff.
When maxwell's released it'll still be a while before any decent versions are around, like the 880 Lightning, Classified etc.
I'm waiting on the 780 Lightning /Classified tbh. (x2 680 performance when OCed you wait and see, at least minimum framerate(all that matters)

wth 915mhz core I have never seen a 680 with clocks that low.

I honestly have not really looked into it, sorry I was under impression 690 had two lower clocked 680 chips but honestly no real idea.

That 690 sounds even more of a bargain then as that's 2x680 for 600 euro? hell.... I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR!

Well I see reasoning from most of you is about the same as mine. Yeap, I will go for it. My first Dual-GPU solution. Yay! I will overclock the **** out of it. :D

I don't know if many of you understood this but the 690 will be a TEMPORARY GPU until Maxewell. :)

Well since you ask for help and opinions , and also you have until midnight today , If I was you I would definitely jump and buy that GTX690 ,why ? I have had and tested GTX Titan in SLI ( Not worth it unless playing at very high resolutions or multimonitors ) ,also GTX690 beats the crap out of the Titan in gaming , single Titan against GTX690 always GTX690 is faster I did test it this., HD7970 Lightning Crossfire ( Single card and crossfire 7970s gets beaten by GTX690 plus you don't feel much microstutter wish crossfire suffers massively ) and lastly GTX690 the winner. In my testing the best out of those video cards choices at this moment in time is the GTX690 as it is the fastest single gaming pcb card at the price range , and if you are like me and play at 1920/1080P resolution only , so I can tell you safely Vram is not and issue at all , I don't know why people keep saying 2048GB of vram is not enough for gaming at 1080P , to the contrary it is enough for 1080P gaming. well there you have it :) that's my opinion. Good Luck on your choice and enjoy it whatever you decide to get. GTX690 its a win win in my books for gaming.

What I meant by that is they are within 2-3 frames of each other if you can tell the difference there than I have some swamp land to sell you. The 690 is a great price/performance card same power as 680sli, uses less power, and hardware frame metering (less micro stutter), only con is the VRAM and at 1080p you will have no issue.
