ASUS today announced new AI Noise-Canceling Microphone (AI Mic) technology that intelligently eliminates unwanted background noise for clear voice communication for work or play.... ASUS announces AI noise-canceling microphone technology
A noise-cancelling microphone... kinda like a chocolate fire guard or that solar powered torch ey? Maybe should have called it a noise-filtering microphone
I still don't get how is this worth my money when even the Realtek chip integrated on mobos can filter background noise quite satisfyingly, for nothing.
Yes. No. You choose. There are algorithms that people call AI but in fact they do not pass any test to prove any intelligence. They just do what what they are programmed to. In this case, noise canceling using available data from loudspeaker and microphone. There are different approaches to this, and different algorithms, some better than others. Algorithms are not AI. Not these simple ones, they learn nothing, they do the same thing from start to end. Do you have noise canceling on your phone? Congratulations, by Asus standard you have AI noise canceling.
As RGB infused everything in hardware parts, so AI it will be forced and put just to sell more, new shiny technology.
Looks like it has white noise canceling functionality. And that's expanded to similar effect that crowd of people has while talking. 1st part is easy and does not really need AI. 2nd part is much harder and maybe AI tech enabled it to be very cheap to make. Will not say that it does not have AI in it. It likely does. But still, if someone buys it for cheap microphone to get rid of white noise, it would be wiser to get good USB microphone instead.
Yes and no also ... Sure if you boil down everything ...then everything is an algorithm now if asus rented few super computers and run simulation s training the algorithm to be more accurate what to get rid off and what not that's definitely AI application. Obviously the microphone is not training anymore , and depends if it is a generation type of algorithm it will do billions of generations if not more and they will get the best generated "kid" to put in. That said i think you are right that most likely this is the same thing as the phones do and asus just calling it ai.
