OK i'll try it arichardson... but I find it cool having a separate OS for games only, so that I could mess with overclocking and drivers and benchmarks alone without affecting my other OS...
There are advantages of that, but to be honest I have no problems doing other stuff on an os tuned for games (anything I do run can be turned off by FSAutostart anyway). At the end of the day most of the tweaks are just turning off things that Microsoft seems to think it's essential we have (like support for a non-existent scanner loading every time you boot).
hey i have a 6800 ultra (evga) and i also have this problem! it neva happened b4.. but just suddenly started...hm.. (after installtion of pro sp2) anyways it seems to be fixed wen u set ur COLOR settings to 16 bit heh is there another way to fix this? or is that any disadvantages be'n at 16 bit than 32 bit color? (i did notice the gigapocket program on my sony comp shows a weird menu wit 16 bit heh) edit: o ya not shure if there's dust in the card or comp or sometihng.. but i bet there is cause my case is open 24/7 with a mini desk fan blowing into it it seems to be kool'n it down alot and my hdds card is idle'n at like 53C wen usally it's at 60C idle'n heh should i continue this? or will it damage my comp in the long run (or the heat can kill it faster?)
i am making that same idea... i also have the case opened and some dust like u... Don't know if it the same problem.
Its a 6800 GTO, as in GT-OEM. Its actually a quadro running at GT speeds but with locked pipelines. Flashing it to a GT would solve all problems.
my pc also fills up with a lots of dust and crap, I have to clean it out every few months cos it raises my temps.
maybe not kill ur pc, but big enough build up will clog up fans and heatsinks, and in the long run, this might reduce the lifespan of ur hardware.
thanks for the replies i guess i'll check my temps more and if i notice it's higher than normal i should vacum the dust out ^^ heh hm.. although... if bugs get in there... that..mite be bad.. lol
I use End It All, I'm guessing it is similar to FSAutostart, it kills background services with one click, dont know if there is still a working d/load for it though, try google
just a quick warning, house vacuum make lots of static, if u want to clean ur pc out, either pick it out by hand, or get a proper pc vacumm.
Actually I found those pc vacuums pretty much useless. compressed air is a pretty good way of getting at the places those vacuums never get at (ie tight cooling fans on gfx cards and cpu cpu heatsinks)
yeh, compressed air is better than most pc vacuums, but getting back on topic, has any1 got any ideas on how to fix my card?
