I didn't know that, but I haven't bean comparing or taking screenshots. I was comparing the settings in game as you change them. Look at the interiors with fxaa turned on and then look at the same interiors with msaa turned on and you'll see how well fxaa removes interior aliasing and shimmering. Using radeonpro and sweetfx forcing smaa only slightly removes diagonal aliasing (hardly noticeable) whereas forcing fxaa blurs the image while hardly removing any aliasing. The same blur occurs when you force fxaa through nvidia control panel.

Was reading the patch notes and saw this:

    PC-Specific

Fixed crash on "Quit to Windows" in free roam mode
Fixed crash on accepting multiple "Join the club" requests
    Fixed issues with TXAA
    Fixed issues with PCSS
Fixed issues with textures on NPCs
Fixed black texture issues on MSAA-4x, MSAA-8x and TXAA
Right Control now can be assigned as a hotkey
    Minor UI fixes

Won't get my hopes up but I hope it fixes TXAA looking like crap.

Slight reading fail by doktor1 with the no love for PC part.

Will be starting this on boxing day so it's looking like it will be near enough fixed by then :)

Framerate is barely improved on the PS4 version with the 6.5 GB Patch 4 in my brief (around 45 minutes) run through various areas in the game last night. It does feel a little more responsive and less laggy in some areas but overall it feels pretty much the same to me, though my test is hardly scientific (I'll leave that to Digital Foundry). What I did notice was that the game only felt like it was hitting 30 fps on a consistent basis when running across rooftops and climbing buildings with the camera pointing upwards; otherwise areas with large crowds still feel distinctly chuggy (like the framerate is in the mid- to low-20s fps) and only feels OK when I move into emptier, less populated areas of Paris. In summary, this patch feels like somewhat of a disappointment given its size and the fact that it was supposed to be the "miracle" performance improvement update. :(

This game is undoubtedly best played on PC (unlike Far Cry 4, say, which I find to be a microstuttery, flickery mess on my PC compared with the superb PS4 version) and has ran at pretty much 60 fps on my system since launch. TXAA is basically broken in my experience (though FXAA looks surprisingly good in this game for a change) and the NPC LOD/pop in is very ugly at times but at least Patch 4 should address the former if the notes are anything to go by.

It's not out on Steam or UPlay so I don't think it's available yet, it was delayed until later this week so I'd guess that it will be out on Friday.

Ubisoft said the PC patch would be out later this week so if doesn't come out today then it'll surely be tomorrow...unless they delay it...again! ;)

Guess I won't bother with this game anytime soon, got a bad taste from FC4 atm, this ACU looks in even worse state..

Imo ACU is much smoother to run than FC4.

Ok tnx, well maybe when they fix it completely. Only curious of its next-gen gfx to be honest :D

I waited for FC4 until patch 1.5 before buying it, but it still feels like they didn't do much.

I don't believe that, ACU runs at 20-23fps on my rig, and FC4 at 40-70fps.

Turn on HT and ACU will run a lot better, the game can use more then 4 threads, unlike FC4 where it keeps abusing 1 thread to 100% at least 50-70% of the time.

Hey -Tj- as a 970 owner, your 1200mhz 780 should eat this game alive with 347.09. Maybe we can scare some citizens or do cool synced assassinations in co-op :D

Yes I noticed that as well when I checked shortly after posting that, the patch is out on Steam but for some reason Ubisoft has not yet released it on their own UPlay platform.
(Usually it's released simultaneously with Steam.)

No idea what their reasons for doing this is but I hope it will be available in the next couple of hours.
(Which will mean sometime tomorrow morning for me as it's near midnight here now.)
