For those of you with high CPU usage, have you tried the affinity thing? Ctrl+Alt+Del, Task Manager, Processes, right click the game process, Set Affinity, Uncheck CPU0, OK, do it again and check "All Processors", OK, back out and return to game. I know that helped more evenly spread the core usage in some past AC games.
I don't think there have been that many bugs and issues this time round, ever since the game has been officially released this thread has been very quiet.
I did hope i could run PCSS in this game, makes the shadows look tons better. But i want to keep 60fps at most of the times.
I wasn't just commenting on this forum. PC Gamer put up an article about the game and it's current condition. And a few friends of mine that got it have had issue after issue. They said it runs better then Unity, but, that's not saying much. Doesn't look as good as Unity either.
I only use this forum, which makes it more accurate for me to compare compared other games. If a single 970 can get 60fps by just lowering PCSS then that is good news for me, providing i ever get round to playing this.
But it feels more alive than Unity! And day/night cycle is big improvement from Unity "menu - change daytime" option... And it is much better game...
You can try https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/4741/ It looks alright, costs around 3-5fps on average.
I can play lock 60fps with my 970 all ultra but antialiasing fxaa shadows high (no pcss) 1080p Txaa2 and shadows pcss are 40-60fps
Very good news for me, then. By this time next month hopefully after a few patches there'll be little to no issue. Nice. And I thoroughly enjoyed Unity, so I'm glad to see this.
Running TXAA 2x, normal PCSS and everything else on max incliuding HBAO+ ultra at 1440p, the game has been running very well. Lowest I've seen fps drop is 50 when you're overlooking London from a high vantage point. For the most part the game's sitting at 60fps. I'm liking the story a lot more compared to Unity, it's a lot more gripping. Black Flag is still my favourite of the series so far though.
I guess we've reached the point in which even the best video cards SLI can't even handle new graphics. Makes me wonder if Nvidia will be 1upping the 980Ti soon.
