New developer video up talking about lightning. Good stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIwfS8uJJIk
Been playing ARMA 2 free and wow... its like mil-sim version of GTA without the nice textures or developed urban environments... which is a good start in my book. I hope ARMA 3 fixes or redo most of the CHARACTER animations... those are just awful compared to other action shooters... the running animation from 3rd person view with guns holstered is so ugly and unrealistic. Same for picking up a person or trying to reload your gear. I also hope the devs will look at other games and makes their control system better. I mean in most shooter, I can assign ONE key to crouch/prone vs multiple keys. Click one, crouch, click again, prone. Assign another one key and click on the "jump" or "get up" and it goes up from prone, to crouch to standing. If standing, click the same key again to "jump" or vault over something. Easy. Multitap the keys within the "home keys" is faster for a lot of people. Keeps the control simple and lets us assign other keys for the other stuff. I have no idea why each move is an individual key when they can cycle the phases into a few keystrokes. I will be watching this game... If they can fix the above, it will be a must buy in my book. Also, are there any detailed or heavy MOUT urban campaign / maps like of a big city for ARMA2? Like London, LA, NY or something like that?
Nothing new in this article, just thought this user comment was a laugh while slightly of bad taste.... Now Come!... join me for a giggle. That is all.

ArmAII Complete Edition now 29 Euro in BIS Store https://store.bistudio.com/arma2-complete-collection
ArmA 3 will be Steam-exclusive Korneel van 't Land sent us a new press release informing the community ArmA 3 will be a Steam exclusive. Contrary what some people seem to believe this does not mean you can not buy a physical copy of the game, that will of course still be possible (but will depend on your region) or other digital distributions. You will be given different options to buy the game, however Steam will be needed to run in the background to be able to play ArmA 3. http://www.bistudio.com/english/company/developers-blog/356-arma3-steam-dev-blog
See I don't get it, surely it should then simply state "Steamworks", saying "Steam Exclusive" really does sound like it can only be purchased via Steam (and a lot of people on various forums think this). When I 1st heard is was Steam exclusive I was not really happy at all (as going one provider alone is a terrible thing), however it's not actually Steam exclusive at all - it's just another Steamworks game like many other games, which I'm totally fine with.
A simply can not wait to play this game. Arma 2 is probably my favourite game of all time. The campaign was excellent to me. I loved the mission you had to track down one of the bad guys by questioning locals and interviewing so intelligence officers. Then based on the information you had to call in air transport and fly in real time to different parts of the map trying to find the guy. Loved it. Can't wait to see what they have instore this time especially with the underwater sections
So it joins the list of many other Steamworks games, hardly a story. Quite looking forward to this, looking abit rough visually based on those screenshots but it's the gameplay i'm getting it for anyway.
I don't mind if it's steam exclusive, i only use Steam anyway for all my games. Even non-steam games. (Stopped using Xfire)
I just hope BIS makes a game (campaign) that is fun to play out of the box. I loved OFP and Resistance but ARMA and ARMA2 were snoozefests. Never finished either campaign and since I don't play online, I really haven't gotten my money out of those titles. There are some decent user missions and campaigns (Cold War Rearmed should be good too) but I don't like relying on user made content to make a purchase worthwhile.
I wonder if I should tell BIS that they've modeled the inert training countermeasures for the Trophy system there (blue pass). The live version is just black/dark green.
Nice. Good price too. http://www.arma3.com/buy (Compared to the beta and full version prices especially, ha ha.)
