Did not test myself so far due to the lack of time. I posted them in the armed-assauld.de forums and got one reply so far. The guy who tested it went back to 182.50 because he had the same issues like with 185.85 (FPS drops, LOD/Texture issues). edit: he is running a single GTX260 The -winxp launch parameter is usually meant to force CF in ArmA2 from what i've read in several forums, i've never noticed that anyone mentioned before it also helps on Texture/LOD issues. So i'm not sure if it does apply to this issues in general or if it does only in SLI/CF systems.

Nice, I was going to say something about how view distance pushes certain settings down if increased to very high values but I saw in the description that the view distance used was (4km with 10km being max without editing the settings files manually.) and it wouldn't really affect the settings at that value. (Seems to depend a bit on hardware used as well, would probably take a lot of power and of course GPU and system memory to run even ArmA 1 at it's highest settings with AA to low/medium and the full 10KM view distance.) Game performs pretty well though and is scalable although once you push the settings up it'll demand quite a bit out of your machine. (Especially large view distances and that fillrate scaler.) EDIT: Ah so that's how it works, interesting to know.
The terrain detail was scaled by the viewdistance in ArmA and is also in ArmA2. Up to 3889m the very high setting for the terrain detail is available, then it goes down to just high, then another step down happens around 7900m making only normal the highest possible terrain detail.
The final 1.01 patch was released, but when I try to install it it just says "1.01 patch has already been installed" Does anyone have that problem?? Download patch here
Same here, but Maruk (BIS CEO) posted that even with this message the patch was applied. Ingame the version should have changed from 1.01.57631 to 1.01.57751. Seems to be correct, even that the installation did just take a split second here. Source: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1299758&postcount=2
The new ArmA2 flashgame is free and if i got it right you can also win a free digital download copy of ArmA2. http://www.arma2.com/arma-ii-flash-game_en.html
I got a bit over 1000 score before my team went down, impossible to win that thing though as that Overclocker.ru (Team?) score is 800.000+ (highscore list) and the 2nd place is a guy with 50.000+ score. EDIT: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1300985&postcount=29 (Motion blur together with a optional bloom disabler, Armaholic also has some updated utilities for the game.)
I just got this game. I'm a DieHard Project Reality player so it will be interesting to see how it compares to Arma.
pillmonster... U cant compare it to Project Reality, its a completly Different Game , i to am a PR fan
Yeah you're not kidding - I just got it installed and am having a play around right now....Anyone know what fill rate optimization is? btw what server do you play PR on?
i played it at 1280x1024 AND IT WAS RLLY GOOD, i mean, very high textures, normal post processing (only has low-normal-high), and other things just like that, normal-high-very high depending of which, and i was around 30fps in frist mission(didnt play more, i had never played a game like this (only Battlefield series) and i wanted to try, im happy so far  ), in XP, but w7 gives 10more fps here (altho couldnt play on it xD)
I have everything on Very High and 2048x1536 Res. The mouse lag is shocking though...like the screen moves about 2 secs after I move the mouse. Btw at the ArmA site there's a crapload of bug related threads....not to good... My speakers sound a bit tinny as well. The graphics are awesome though, and there' a good selection of adjustments in the menu too. I like that you can change the view distance. Looks like there's a lot to learn in game anyway. EDIT: Anyone know why there are no AA options in the game menu? EDIT#2 NM just found this on the TG site...dunno how accurate it is but I believe it after the poor AA quality at 100%, looked like MSTAA & SSTAA was disabled. 200%=AA16x 150%=AA8x 133%=AA4x 125%=AA2x 100%=Off
Wow not much difference between any of the cards at high settings, only about 10FPS between the best and worst. ...and of course, I have to pay tribute once again - it's good to see the 8800GTX/Ultra still hanging in there with there newer counterparts *Shakes head* man those cards are like the gift that just keeps on giving....
