Just clean out the "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder...and watch the slow crap I was talking about a while ago, then get it from catalog.update.microsoft and install manually? I always do, because of that same fail, redownload, retry, fail.... scenario.

The joke is almost on point! :D
There is no Windows 9 because some lazy developers back then asked for a string to identify the correct OS version, back then with Windows 95 and 98. But because both start with the string "Windows 9", it would have lead to issues probably, so they skipped it.

I'm not quite sure what to look for in the dism log... it's the one located here correct?

    C:\Windows\Logs\DISM

I reset windows updates... tried installing the update a 5th time and fails to install, I'm guessing it doesn't like my pc, it's kinda funny, this is a new install of 1909 just last week.

Have you tried uninstalling the previous CU, rebooting and trying to install it again?

I have more than enough PCs on-hand to not have any reservations about leaving one or two of them with Windows 7, and just riding-out the EOL shockwave. I need a solid UnrealEd rig, and that software doesn't seem to like any of my Win 10 platforms all that much.

The only ongoing issue I have regarding Windows 10 have been creepy audio-related issues; across multiple PCs, including those with, and without, a discrete sound card. It may well be unfair to lay that problem on the OS, but I've made no progress on resolving the issue. And, believe me, I've tried.

Check the logs in C:\Windows\inf folder if this update has anything to do with any sort of drivers (even M$/AMD/Intel CPU ones not normally thought of.) It very often tells of the problem right then and there, and surely will if driver was a problem. It happens more often than people think.

But on a more personal level, in addition to latest "revelation" of windows 10 certificate handling: Please upgrade to 7 if you must stay on M$.

@Celcius, not only am I world's sickest guitarist in my own realm far away from anyone in world history, I am also leading stop error specialist in addition to stability expert and audio systems expert. I am the one responsible for bringing perfect stability to MOTU firewire driver (for all units and OSes) when they were having issue keeping it from crashing the system after ~5 days' uptime. First thing is first - test latency with Latencymon, toggle HPET in UEFI/BIOS then test again and keep best setting. If/when you need more help, let me know and we will square whatever away.

By FAAAAAAR, you want to use MAGIX ASIO driver on the onboard solutions in DAW and other ASIO-able applications. It is based on ASIO4ALL but far superior in all ways, including audio latency.

A little entertainment I say (was a private mindless DeOxit test video as you can see with switch messing, without thought then I just put overlay and called it a video hahaha \m/\m/):

It's all written and described in their own knowledge base, available to the public. RTFM! :D

    Found this:
    Code:
    HRESULT = 0x800f0982 - PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND
It seems you need another update before installing this one. Sadly I dont know where to look for dependencies. :(
(btw.: This can happen if you remove critical parts of the OS ... did you "customize" your Windows installation in any way by removing components?)

funny, cause a few pages back, win 10 wasnt just bloated but:
Windows 7 is so...glorious to use compared to 10. Just SO MUCH less tweaking and disabling things and removing junk. Everything about it was much faster than Windows 10. All the parts like Event Viewer, Computer Management, etc just pop up and populate instantly where on 10 they are sluggish and even hang for a while at times. Windows 7 boots much faster than Windows 10...I have no idea where people get the idea 10 boots faster. I assume because they got an SSD at the same time or just because they installed clean and their old 7 install was riddled with junk? That or they allow it to use that fast boot crap that never really shuts down? I don't. I'm talking about a full clean boot.

My games (Warframe) ran much smoother, less/no stutter. The whole UI of windows parts and added programs are snappy by comparison.

    lmfao.
i ran 7 and 10 "tweaked" the same way, (as in removing unneeded stuff/customizing ui etc) and there is no difference between the two,
no matter what i compare (boot/use/gaming), and unless you can provide some numbers that actually show it, i still say its not 10 thats the problem.
same with updates. i installed 1909 about 6 weeks ago, any updates since then installed without trouble, so again, i see the complete opposite of what you claim.

windows 10 breaks alot easier then win7 ever did, dont get me wrong I loved win7 and while I hate love hate thing going with win10 build "updates" cause 1909 is only one so far that has not screw up things with "upgrade" as most my "reinstall" of windows 10 came from the fact the "upgrades" went wrong and required me to do clean install just to fix the issue. I still prefer win 7 most cause none of this Metro UI crap or MS store so long as you on "pro" you can avoid most the "forced updates" till your ready to install them.

speed wise and gaming wise it seem the same to me as win 7.

And people need to give the phone home crap a rest, your damn phone send back more data then windows 10 does and been doing for far long then windows 10 been around and they all have mic's and camera attached to them. yet people dont really care about that. if you where avoid windows 10 cause of that why arnt you avoid smart phones like the plague?

LTSB sure as hell did. When i started playing with ltsc last year i concentrated on tweaking it to buggery, no package removals, no liting, just tweaks post install with a lot of success.

    im still using nokia bricks.

I hate eye candy and the flat metro ui is perfect.

I use PC daily since windows 95 (excluding previous versions including ms-dos for studying), Windows 10 is the most stable and refined OS. Windows 7/XP were good on their age and time. Move on.

I had Cortana disabled, but re-enabled it and still same error... I haven't actually removed anything from the iso, it's just the standard install media.

Got some more things to try before giving up.
