    2 reasons why I currently wouldn't get a 4K Display:

    • Required GPU horsepower (and the cost that comes with it)
    • Refreshrate and latency, 120 Hz at least tbh.

Framerate. I play MP shooters and always have at least a steady 120 fps. For SP games I turn on more eye candy (enough until the FPS hits a point where it starts annoying me).

    Just voted.

Matt, I may get a second one at some point as it is a pain switching between PCs sometimes. This will be some time after I have finished building the "Red Machine".

Are you likely to get a 4K FreeSync panel Kaap?

If I get another there is a very good chance it will be.

    Excellent, we can share experiences.

Any panels caught your eye yet?

    Not yet

The next big job is to build the Red Machine to use it with. At the moment I am waiting on XSPC to send me the remaining two 480mm rads on an order of three I had with them.

I think three 480mm rads will have no problems keeping my quad 290Xs and a 5960X cool as the one thing I have learned over the last year is the Hawaii cards don't produce as much heat as people think.

Right now I have an eyefinity setup. I'd love to jump to 4K, but I need a bigger display. I'd love a 40-50" curved 21:9 4K display to replace my current setup. Hopefully something like that will come along and have DP for ease of running.

I do 50-70 fps in farcry4 on 1920x1080 with a single R290. ultra settings and 4xmsaa. I guess I am one of the lucky few who have been able to do that.

Way too expensive for Brazil. Will wait for quantum dots to see if they are really good too.

Too new and too expensive, though it would be nice.

Nope. I have absolutely zero interest in it, nor do I feel like shelling out for the kinds of graphics cards to support such ridiculous resolutions. I am more than happy with my setup for both my computer and my home theater at 1080P.

I will when they make one that is either MVA or IPS, 120hz or more, 32" minimum and either G-Sync or Free Sync. Plus the longer I wait, the more chance of a card that can power if at high to ultra settings.

Happy with 1440p @144hz, of course I will go 4k but when it has higher refresh and when I get a graphics card upgrade and X99 upgrade.

With what you already have, the jump to X99 wouldn't be very beneficial unless benchmarking. Your Rig is already very nice.

If there is a graphic card (no sli or crossfire thank you very much) powerful enough to do 4K with the highest settings (no AA on) and keeping a minimum of 60fps at any game, yea I know I am dreaming.

Pretty happy with my Qnix 27" 2560x1440 IPS screen. Maybe in another 10 years I could be persuaded to go for 4K when the tech finally catches up.

I get to look a 4k+ monitor every day (co-worker uses it at work for good reason (does 2d art)) and while it's nice and certainly will be the standard in the future, for now, combination of all of the above reasons put me solidly at "happy with my current monitor".

Don't forget the DSR and VSR functions that NVidia and AMD are offering with the new Drivers for 1080P monitors. I tried VSR yesterday on my 1080P and works beautifully. I tried 2K and 3K (4K only for R9 285 at the moment) resolutions and i was surprised by how good it did work. This can save you from the consideration buying a 4K monitor right now.
