Kinda leaning more to a 470 right now instead of a 480. Mainly because the framerates I'm seeing on single cards, both ATI and NVIDIA, are not exceptable in DX11 with tesselation. By the time tesselation will be really interesting, we'll be at the next gen.

Kinda reminds me of Crysis when it was released, you could run Very High on a 8800GTX, if and only if you consider 25fps playable.

But then again I might have a way of getting a 480 without having to pay the taxes, then it'll cost me €400 instead of 500.

Nah I used to get 30-35 if you ran in DX9 on Win XP with the high end hacks so it looked like DX 10.

Yeah which was the primary reason why I refused to go Vista, had it dualboot and it was nothing but pure fail after fail in every benchmark in every single game.

Buying a 480 for sure, aus prices are inflated as hell so if I want to get one at the right price i'll have to try and find a way to get one from overseas.

I wonder when stock will come in...

hm, im having a hard time deciding. i still have bfg trade up on my 260 until may 9, and i'll only have to pay around $180-$200 bucks for the 470.

but at the same time, i don't know if my power supply will handle it and if my cpu will bottleneck the 470. :uhoh:

I will eventually. I usally avoid purchasing the first release rev of hardware that I know is going to be around for quite awhile. I'll let others test out the card for 6 months or so & read about the struggles they go through first w/ drivers, ect. Then I'll make an educated decision. No point to jumping on the bandwagon.

How so, results are pretty much the same, the only game where the performance is rather dissapointing is Bad Company which is also there in HH's review. And the prices I'm seeing here are very reasonable in Belgium, €505 for a 480, €700 for a 5970.

Well I pre-ordered a Gainward GTX 480 from Scan in the early hours of Saturday morning here in the UK so my vote is obviously, yes. I must admit that I'm getting cold feet though at having paid £437 for a graphics card with such a high TDP. EEEEEK!

Those benchmark results are too tempting though and I don't think ATI's drivers are quite good enough to sway me toward an HD5870, particularly with the lack of AA profiles and PhysX. The excitement of having a new card is driving me at the moment but I keep wondering if I should buy an HD5870 anyway, despite what I said, and see how it goes since it's a lot cheaper and less power hungry. Knowing my luck though, whichever route I go I'd probably end up regretting it at some point... with the HD5870 when I try to play Batman Arkham Asylum and with the GTX 480 when my electricity bill comes in!!!

Yeah you know the story about the 4xx Series already TDP/Power blabla so for myself im not getting a 4xx Card but i think i will get one 470 for my father cause he uses 3D Vision which imho the 470 should suit very well @ 1680x1050.

too much for me, only reason i decided to get it is due to trade up i'll only have to fork over $180. and it's not like in the future i'll be able to sell my 260 for 170.

A newbie with only 2 posts saying guru is biased is laughable. There are many reviews all over the web that are no more gentle or harsh towards Nvidia or ATI than guru. I thought Hilbert was far too gentle on ATI when they came out with the HD2900. Cant please anybody it seems. :wanker:

No, I won't buy poor engineering ever, despite the performance.
