With the actual prices of PC parts, these new MacBooks look very tempting, it is a no brainer if you really need mobility and an accurate screen.

PCs are losing their price arguments with every passing day.

The Dell XPS 17" has roughly the same CPU performance, much better GPU performance, uses nvme (new Max uses standard SSD), and a 4k display with better color accuracy than the Macbook (both sRGB and DCI-p3). It also costs $1k less. Not to mention you can actually repair, upgrade, etc the Dell. .Oh... and the Macbook Pro Max has that stupid iphone "Notch" in the top center of the display.

My brother's MacBook Pro which he spent $2800 on just three years ago and 3 weeks after the $399 additional 3 year warranty expired, the battery puffed up and split the laptops case wide open. Apple wont' work with him on repair/replacement either. He's owned Macbook Pros, Powerbook pros, Mac Pro's, and Power Mac's going back to the G3 and still they don't give a crap. He just quit supporting apple over this. Will be buying a new PC based laptop.
