I am looking for the bets performing apg video card for around 300 bucks I had my sites set on getting an x850pro and moding it to an x850xt pe. But just recently I found out that there is going to be an x1600 pro 512 and x1600 xt coming out here soon. I have been looking ever where for comparisons between the two and how the x1600 is going to perform but have come up empty handed. Does anyone know anything about the x1600, when it’s going to come out, and how it performs in comparison to the x850pro moded?

There is a performance review of the x1600xt on the front page of guru3d mate.

To be honest its a bit of a pap card really. Only comparably to the 6600gt which is cheaper.

I would strongly reccomend going for the x850pro or if its within your price range a 6800GS or something like that.

liek the others said, the x1600 can barely match the 6600. go for the x850pro or gto.

-edit- are you on agp or pci-e?
    and welcome to guru3d

As above the GTO2 will easily mod to x850 XT PE, the x1600 pro is rubbish, doesn't even compete with the 6600 GT, its the x1600 XT thats better than the 6600 GT, as you can see from the review on here. :)

you have to flash bios on x800GTO2 (non 2 won't work. exampe X800GTO) and than overclock it. you can overclock it even higher than x850XT PE stock :)

now x800GTO2 comes stock with unlocked 4 extra pipelines. the first versions of gto2 had locked 4 pipelines, so now you must just overclock it as far as you can:speed:

Can't agree more there. Mine (used to be wildstyles who had the same luck) overclocks like crazy. I reckon with some tweaking and better cooling 700/1300 is easily attainable. I can get it to 640/1270 no problems at all on stock cooling, stock volts etc.

    Its a great little card.

truly i'm like nv as much as ati, but i wonders what's on their mind at ati, they are the ones who laugh off fx 5200 that it support new tech (dx 9.0b, if i recalled rightly) but the performance when running new game with the new dx (at that time) was awful.
now, now, what happens to their x1600pro/xt (and even the x1300, maybe except the x1x00 AIW series)?
everything was beautiful (esp h.264 support) except in performance (when all matters most).

So what're they thinking? customers can only be smarter....

Buy a 6800gs, they are (with a LITTLE overclocking) matching the 6800gt's which are great cards and , they're just 170euro's here :D

    It's AGP, not APG.

    God, give me some aspirin.

Umm... Guys, the GTO2 is PCI-E, not AGP, so it doesn't do this guy any good. That aside, I'd go for the X850 Pro mod to X850 XT PE or possibly the lower performing, yet probably a bit cheaper, 6800 GS.
