i see the 7970 is out and is running between $500-$600. i am wondering what the 7950 will be as i would not mind the upgrade.

Based on "leaked" information....you're probably looking at $450-$550 for an HD7950. HD7870 at around $350-$450 and HD7850 at $250-$350. I hope I'm wrong though....I'd like to see more reasonable prices.
Once I get the other issues sorted, I've decided to pickup a GTX560Ti, HD6870 or HD6950 and call my "upgrades" done for the year. As much as I want to give the new GCN architecture a shot....I'm in agreement with you. Not worth the price. Maybe the refresh cards (HD8K) will be priced better....
