A friend of mine is having some issues with his laptop so I came here to ask you guys if you know of a fix for something like this. This is what he emailed me.

"The week my daughter took it to college she spilled fingernail polish remover into the upper left corner of the keyboard. It is shorted out, I think it melted the seal around the key switches. It is dead in the water. The computer can be used with a USB keyboard, but when it boots up it thinks the ESC key is pressed."

    Thanks for any help.

Buy a new keyboard for the laptop.

Or at the least, disconnect the old one

I recently replaced the Keyboard on my old Acer 7520(After 5yrs I finally spilled beer on it..)With a little googling I was able to get a replacement keyboard.

You may have to find the exact Part Number of the keyboard(which may require actually removing it to find a sticker on the underside for example) I tried searching for replacements for that model of laptop but came up empty. Why I suggested getting the actual Part Number.
Asus has plenty of replacement keyboards for sale hopefully there is one available for that model.

My neice spilled Mango Chutney on her laptop keyboard and it set like glue, definitely needed a new keyboard then :)

If ASUS have an ADP Warranty then use it!!
