Among this mayhem of preselling the HD7970, I would like to gently ask 3 questions:

    1) Would be safe or not to say that by february 14 th - 29 th there will be any HD7970 to be sold, or simply they will be over without know date by there?

    2) Is there any chance by the same date that the price either remains near US$ 550 or even be lower?

    3) Is there any chance of problem of the HD7970 fitting my chassis (CM690 II basic)?

The reference design is supposed to be just shy of 11" (280mm) long.

Ugh.......so damn tempted to get a HD7970, but I must resist! There's one piece at one of the shops I go to, I did not reserve it as I wanted someone else to get it and remove the temptation. Buuuuuut, IF it's still available this evening after work, I guess it's meant to be mine. BTW, wanna talk price gouging? How about paying ~660USD for a HD7970? We are so getting pwnz here in Asia....

Yea and wot a load of BS those prices are when u compare to Newegg's prices. The difference isnt much when u compare the website prices ($ & £) but then compare currencies converted and that $550 is suddenly £355. Were getting ripped so badly in the UK that its just a huge joke now with VAT and other crap they put on the price. I wont be buying one of these.

Still a £420 base price (according to ocuk) isn't as bad as it was first expected, and if the HD 7950 hits around the £320 mark and performs about the same as a GTX 580 then when factoring in possible overclocking benefits on these cards the prices do seem to feel a lot more reasonable and will likely only get lower.

Still thats their cheapest own brand, they've got a few cards that cost More than £500!! Way to expensive imo, we just constantly get ripped off in this country!! Goes for Nvidia cards too.

At least Scan's prices a more resonable, maybe its just OCUK that are asking for silly money.

That XFX card at OCUK is like £560 lol

No doubt prices will drop, especially when Nvidia new cards are out.

Im gona wait to see the 7950 prices but i dont wana spend more than £300 on one card.. i cud get another 6870 and crossfire it with my current card and it will still be cheaper and faster than the 7970 option. Only problem is crossfire reliability so im gona wait this out even if i have to go for 2x 7870.. one when they come out and another a few months later :)

    What are you complaning about?

I'll asking about availability on february because it's when i'll be in the US so I can buy one.

Here in Brasil there is NO expected date to arrive, but if it's like the HD69xx, they are going to take 4 months+

Also, I saw some possible prices on the release here, and they are something between US$ 1000 e US$ 1500, not excatly nice.

If you consider that the GTX 580 is near US$ 1000 here(the price of the dolar went sky-high here, in the last few months, it not, it would be above US$ 1000), you can calculate how much the HD7970 should arrive here.

    Edit:

The cheapest GTX 580 I can find right now, in cash, us just shy of US$ 650
