Have a really good feeling that the answer to this is "no"... but figured i'd ask anyway.

As you may or may not know, i recently purchased a GeForce GTX 295, which as a HDMI port. Right now i'm using my 24" widescreen Gateway monitor connected via a DVI cable. Would there be any advantage to connecting it to the HDMI port? IIRC, the only benefit to HDMI over DVI was the ability for sound to be played over HDMI too, which isn't something i really need for a non-speaker-y monitor.

DVI and HDMI are digital cables. Only difference is that HDMI includes sound.

If you don't need sound, there is no difference between DVI and HDMI.

No, because your soundcard usually has easier hookup to speakers it will just mean more cables everywhere.

well... i don't see how that would mean more cables everywhere.

DVI = DVI cable + speaker wires from sound card to speakers

HDMI = HDMI cable + speaker wires from sound card to speakers

with my screen on hdmi i get blured text and games run bigger than my screen resolution ie 19.. by .... rez when me screen says it only goes to 1680 by 1050 so games go past the edges if you get me lol

Soo for me i have a hdmi cable with dvi end bits on it so its running as dvi but i got the Hdmi cable from gfx to monitor i reckon it works better than a standard dvi cable would faster signal maybee ? who knows lol
