The usual registry edit that hides the volume controls does the trick for me. If that fix is 100% I dont know but I see a considerably increase in 1% and 0.1%, avg fps are mostly the same. You can even delete the xbox app afterwards, but I dont do that.
Otherwise my windows installation is not modified in any way, I do use the LTSC version though.

you don't, trying to will break your OS, and games will not work properly anymore.

Very likely caused by compositor vsync + missing VRR at the same time. Typical totally misleading Nvidia chart.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum so please excuse me if this is misplaced; I have spent many hours trying to figure out how to force fullscreen exclusive for New World. The game has two options in video settings, 'Windowed' and 'Fullscreen', but the Fullscreen option is actually just borderless windowed. This can be tested with the windows change volume command and by alt-tabbing which clearly indicates that the game is not fullscreen exclusive. I have tried everything, including what's suggested in OP's linked video, but nothing works.

I will buy a case of beer (or non-alcoholic beverage of choice) to the first person who can help me solve this issue and get New World running fullscreen exclusive.
    - Is it possible or is it a lost cause?

he can't, because the game doesn't incorporate anything but flipmode swap chains which have existed in all versions of windows 10.

I just looked up the details on the game and it is indeed a DX12 one, which of course has no exclusive screen mode.

I don't think it's borderless windowed. Force vsync OFF and it should tear.

DX12 games use a fullscreen mode that behaves like true fullscreen when no Windows overlay is visible, but behave like borderless windowed when an overlay appears (like the volume bar.) Once the overlay disappears, it becomes like true fullscreen again.

As I take it, it depends on version of DXGI. From the start there was no "tear" feature in DX12 full screen mode, but it was added later.

PS According to https://abi-laboratory.pro/compatib...4393.0/x86_64/headers_diff/dxgi.dll/diff.html flags DXGI_SWAP_CHAIN_FLAG_ALLOW_TEARING and DXGI_PRESENT_ALLOW_TEARING were added in Windows 10 1607 14393.0.

It's advertised as dx12, but its a D3D11 renderer last i saw an overlay for it, the two fullscreen modes are Windowed flipmode and fullscreen flipmode.

though it might use D3D11 Feature level 12?, which i'm can't even comprehend why it even exists.

As I take it, flip mode is not exclusive DX12 feature, and it is an old one - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/direct3ddxgi/dxgi-flip-model (in addition to the bitblt)
