From Anonymous own mouth:
The consumers in this are as one might call, collateral damage. We are very cognizant of the fact that we are not making friends nor allies among the average consumer with our attack. This is unfortunate as a concern should always be, will the very people we seek to support not see what it is we are trying to achieve. In this case, many don’t. There has been a lot of hate spread throughout the internet and over forums that we are being reckless and simply punishing consumers more than Sony.
Sony = the dog poo I just scraped off the bottom of my shoe.
**** these *******s. this is taking it too far. i hope they all get caught and get the maximum ****ing sentence.
going after the company is one thing but to get personal like that about families and what not is just bull****.
I'm not agreeing with what Sony did, but this is something I can't agree with either.
Just another bunch of freetards jumping onto the attention seeking bandwagon, they will jump onto whatever is in the headlines next.
As for why they are doing it i liked the part where they seem to think that if it interferes with Joe public services than thats acceptable collateral damages.....sort of poo poos all over their "Doing it for the man" Bs they have been peddling.
As i said attention seeking freetards.
If they want to "stick it to the man" then fine, as long as it doesn't affect me the average user and the PSN being down does affect me.
^ this too
The point is if you agree with them why would you want to use the PSN anyway? Support the company that is trying to prevent the consumer from owning the product they paid for? There is no reward without risk.
While I don't have a care in the world for either side as I don't hack or pirate, so what all this is about doesn't get in my way at all. If the PSN goes down I'll play on my PC or Xbox or play off line. Not a big deal with me. That said I am glad that there are these people standing up to these companies that impose their will on the very customers that support them. I say give them hell. Sony has gone too far. IMHO.
"Nothing will ever get clean without agitators"
They're going to harass the families of those company reps too though, seeing as they are looking for infos/stalking them. They have nothing to do with what Sony has been doing but they'll still get it.
The people doing this probably using the PSN to begin with too when there not trying to get the 10 seconds of fame, only to get caught and delt with , which will happen, and they will be in deeper crap then hotz.
they basically saying if you dont let me do what i want to do then i wont let you do your stuff, i bet sony loosing quite a lot of money over this.
you clearly don't know how botnets work.
You just may have a botnet client on your pc right now and you don't even realize it especially if you think that.
as far as going after the families i'm not sure what to think about that but remember some people take things too far and to them being a part of sony is being a part of the cancer.
avivoni @ no one has prevented anyone from hacking a PS3. What they did is target geohot to be the scapegoat for the entirety of the internet. Sony is unfortunately going to turn geohot into a sort of martyr and spawn anger from those who hate censorship. This is easily transformed into a David vrs Goliath type of story where the lowly geohot figures some stuff out and shares it with his friends for free and then sony attempts to decimate his life because of it. I don't know what world you live in but srsly dude that's not cool.
Their families are not part of Sony, only the representatives are.
The geohot affair is unfortunate but this does not justify going after their families, even if they are trying to make a point about Sony getting permission to view the IPs of all who went to the site. They could potentially ruin lives if they decide to harass the kids as well as their parents.
"The consumers in this are as one might call, collateral damage."
So they have the same mindset as those they oppose? Big surprise...
Yes, quite funny infact.
They oppose Sony in what they are doing...but do the exact same thing...
Two wrongs don't make a right.
This doesnt make any sense at all.
Lets see this analogy:
1. You buy a new car, a Toyota for example.
2. 3 months later your Toyota dealer calls you - you are to return your car to his garage for a quick safety update
3. You get your car back
4. 1 week later you realize your car stops in front of the nearest highway.
5. Upon phoning your dealer he tells you Toyota changed the contract you signed. Your car is no longer capable of driving on highways. If you need highway access you'd need to buy a better Toyota.
6. You go out to the neighbors and beat up your neighbors wife and kids because your neighbor works in a Toyota factory.
This is total madness.
Anonymous cant take any high ground with anybody, i have no doubt people can still remember their YouTube porn attacks and their epilepsy attacks, the latter they discussed, implemented and then removed after it became quite clear their that cry for attention began to back fire on them.
And let not forget their campaign for "The man" when they attacked the 14 year old McKay Hatch for his No Cussing Club, seems Anonymous like to spout all this freedom BS but dont like it when people do it.
Yeah anonymous, the moral guardians of the people. LOL
Except no one is physicaly being harmed here. Just internet stuff and maybe some personal info leaks and ****. So to say that they are essentially going next door and beating up the neighbours is a bit over the top. I doubt they will go after everyone that works for SONY. Just the Top Dogs.
Anonymous are protesting using the tools they have. They know how to get a reaction. SONY also knows how to get a reaction and make it seem like they are being raped by mallicious terrorists. Sony has the power to stop the threats and the attacks. They choose not to. Just as the attackers have the power to stop the attacks. Again they choose not to. It's a virtual pissing war.
Is SONY right for changing the EULA and without notice take away advertised features of a console that consumers payed $$'s of dollars for in the name of IP security and the protection of copyrighted material? Are Anonymous right for attacking a company in the name of these consumers using means that the majority of these consumers wouldn't be able to do and doing what no other group of poeple could do?
Internet attacks are hardly life threatening. Innocent childeren are still dying of diseases and starvation and it has nothing to do with the internet, SONY or Anonymous. Just to put how petty all this realy is.
Posting personal information about their families can lead to physical attacks. We all know that there are crazy people in the world that take things way to seriously. If one of these people obtained a sony employee's address they may go on a rampage.
