"External" AF controls have been broken in many games after Catalyst 9.10. Using CCC won't fix this...submit a ticket to ATI.
It's in all games. Does it have anything to do with the error message during driver install (general bug on XP)? Last 5 years I have submitted about a hundred tickets about non working controls in CCC but they don't do ****, ati sucks.
CCC works for me but ATT doesn't. <-Hardware WinXP sp3. Dragon Age v1.02a Catalyst 10.1 + ATT 1.6.9.1464: Catalyst 10.1 + CCC Texture area looks alot better here. Luckily I can use both ATT and CCC together, ATT for superior overclocking and voltage adjustment, CCC for the better image settings.
May be ATI changed something in XP, I don't know. Using XP in nowadays is not a good idea Its Windows 7 times.
This isn't anything changed for XP Cuz I had the same problems in windows 7. Can you check this in your registry? It might be new AF entry for CCC, though (MAYBE?) Is CCC using a different registry entry for AF controls than ATT? If it is, then Ray can add the new entries pretty easily for new build of ATT. AF controls are done from registry keys... In 10.1, AF is working again in Unreal Tournament 2004 and UT3 in ATT, but it does NOT work in Combat Arms, Crossfire (the game, NOT the video cards), and Sudden attack, and Dragon Age (all three of these games use the same graphics engine). I did not test with CCC... BTW AF works with d3d af tester (through ATT, too), windows 7 and XP. This makes no sense...why would UT2004 work with AF controls in ATT but not Dragon Age or Combat Arms? But you said Dragon Age works in CCC in 10.1...All games use the same registry entries! BTW, it's windows 7 problem too, not XP; I had same problems on W7 with anisotropic filtering too. (but I only tested driver 9.11 and 9.12 -->Broken AF in unreal tournament 2004/UT3/Dragon Age in both windows 7 and XP, with Ati tray tools...)
It works for me, so nothing changed in W7/Vista code. If it works only on certain games that means problem somewhere inside driver. "The truth is out there". But no one knows where exactly.
still broken to a degree with some games with the 10.4 drivers, get some texture AF in them but no AF for normalmap/specular textures so shiny surfices and normal mapped surfaces look blury as close as 10-15 feet away from the camera.
