I guess they are too polite to say directly that Hynix is too incompetent to get the HBM2 production working properly.

Looks more like they're trying to close the deal on that IKEA endorsement...

Other than terms like "extremely difficult - but "extremely rewarding" to justify the delay and worth the wait message, have a feeling this will be another 'product for the future'. The game devs may need time to showcase Vegas fuller potential. So if initial benches are not too exciting, it will then be another AMD product you ought to buy for the future.

just seems to me HBM2 is being more than a little awkward to produce and what little of it is available is being put on high margin low volume GFx cards of both NVidia and AMD for the professional segment.

After all trying to launch before supplies are sorted out properly to the gaming market will just get them a tonne of flack due to lack of availability and damage their public perception Far more than launching later.

I'm not honestly in much of a rush due to currently playing older games mostly, but still excited for the launch when it finally arrives.
At least it is starting to sound like it really can be faster than the 1080Ti, looking forward to that upgrade after so long. Fury is not so great with more demanding/newer titles at 4k....

I agree, this look bad even at hype stage.A déjà vu.

If AMD advantage in DX12 is not enough to make their GPUs more appealing for customers: Real game performance AT LAUNCH,not marketing BS, slideshows or next years performance against TODAY competition...

...Devs are not going to make a special ACTIVE effort to support the GPUs with less market share if that means GPUs with more market share lost optimization.

It shouldn't be much longer. I reckon the ball will start rolling when MS Scorpio drops. Devs just need a more platforms to develop games with DX12 or a variant of it.

It's already rolling. Vega will be even more efficient with triangle throughput and graphics bottleneck, so things will be much better from the get go. I still bet it will take them a bit of time to tweak this (as it should be expected actually).

".....have the potential to really break new ground and fundamentally improve game development."

This doesn't sound like the ball is rolling yet:)

All of a sudden it feels like Rx Vega is standing on our doorsteps and about to knock the door off.

I can wait and it'll be worth it. My 2 Furys can rip through every game that's been made so far at 4k 60+fps so there's no rush for me.

Your two fury's can hit 4K 60FPS in every single game that's been made? You must have magical furies sent by some alien civilization.

I know that I don't reflect most people here, and I understand them, but if I get a Vega part and I manage to keep it five years like I've kept my Tahiti I will be extremely happy.

The first mainstream console to have parts of Vega will appear around November. This is essentially the same time windows as Tahiti had with the PS4.

I think that Vega has sufficient compute performance to be released in profi market.

But driver for Gaming still needs work to use properly all new features, and AMD does not want to have another Borked Gaming launch.
GCN 1.0 got like 15% performance boost within 1 month.
    GCN 1.1 got 10% within 1 month.
GCN 1.2 got even 30% in some games, and it tool like 3 months.
As for Polaris initial hickup, I really do not know, but pattern of new stuff and need to do driver work...
