Apparently Samsung were going to buy them too....

From what I've heard, their x86 license is non transferable anyway

It isn't but certain conditions would allow them to continue using it.

let´s say Intel buys AMD, that would open a can of whoop ass for nvidia.

All Intel Needs is good GPU assets, cuz they got all the rest.

Intel isn't doing that badly without them, their Iris Pro is actually quite impressive all things considered.

Intel wont buy AMD, I doubt they'd be allowed even if they wanted.

It would be a shame to lose AMD, I'd like to see them really being competition again

But worst case scenario, if they were bought out, if that company did what AMD couldn't, then fair game - so long as there is competition in the GPU market

I highly doubt Intel would allow their x86 license to be renewed for a Chinese company.

If US Military have tech from a US Company this Company can´t be sold to foreign companies and if i remember it right they got supercomputer with opteron cpu in the past. Its the same in Germany with VW, nobody can buy them.

    possible would be:
IBM, HP, Apple, Cisco System, Microsoft, Intel, Facebook, Nvidia, Oracle, Google, and Mc Donalds and Coca Cola :D

    I m sure i forget a lot, but i must say i don´t like all this options.

Why would they do that?, I just upgraded my cpu/mb and amd was not even remotely on my mind for a cpu, I still have bought more amd cpu`s than intel, by far. Socket 939 was my last amd cpu, an Operton 170 that was able to oc from 2ghz to 2.8, pretty nice oc there for the time.

If Intel buys AMD say goodbye to any chance of any reasonable CPU advancement in the next century+. As if the market isn't horrifying enough as it is. Since 2006 when Intel released the Core 2 series and pushed AMD out of the market it's been sad all around with (IMO) very sad advancement compared to pre 2006 when there was some competition.

As I mentioned earlier, I doubt it'd be allowed even if Intel wanted to buy them. It'd probably come under some form of anti-competition considering both companies are North American.

Intel has been acting like amd does not exist. There doesn't seem to be any price gouging by intel. Unlocked k chips have always been good regarding quad cores.theres even a nicely priced 5820k and that's a 6 core cpu.

The 5820K is insanely well priced considering the performance it offers tbh.

Also, Intel's I5's and I7's have been pretty much the same price for years now.

This is several months old news, guy just found it in archive and decided to get some clicks.
Same goes for Samsung, they do not need to buy AMD to get any technology AMD has, they'll just make cross deal allowing them to get very good price on anything they want, because AMD does semi-customs anyway.

From the looks of this news, there just may be life after this launch. Joined too late to have any impact for this generation of gpus.
