I wonder if AMD is planning to nerf the ethereum mining performance like Nvidia with 3060.

Wake me up when one can find graphics cards in stock at 2018 prices.
Yawn, don't hold your breath until then.

If this is going to be like any of recent graphic card launches by AMD and NVIDIA, bots and scalpers will corner 99% of the market. We will have to be content with seeing the card reviewed by YouTubers and paying double MSRP if we want to buy one.

Man I would love to get one but not gonna try to get one. Why I slapped a block on my 5700xt for now.
Maybe end of the year or next year I will upgrade my 2700x and 5700XT

On other hand, we already know that there will not have enough card for the demand and that most will go mining, let's hope a crypto crash (despite people lost a lot) like last time to have a normal life again.

Boi was it funny to see it crash too. And the influx of gpus too on ebay used.

For the hell of it I picked up 2 RX 480 8GB nitros for $200 shipped back in 2018. Just weeks before a single one was $350.
Dying to see miners lose it all. DONT CARE.

It seems like, that for both the Nvidia 30-series and especially AMD's DNA2 jammies, this might be the generation of graphic cards that never actually existed. (OK, I'm not being entirely serious, but I'm certainly not entirely joking, either.)

Perhaps in six months or so, there will be rumors and speculation of the next generation from each manufacturer, and I can well imagine most everyone thinking, "Wait, what? The next generation? What the _____ happened to this generation?"

"Where Gaming Begins Episode 3?" Really? We're now really at Episode 3? It doesn't seem like we've experienced much more than the equivalent of even a preview or trailer, much less three episodes.

A week from now, I'd like to see Dr. Su have the courage and honesty to stand there and tell everyone, "Here is our new 6700-series. It's really a great graphics card. However, you will not be able to find one, so, you're just going to have to take my word on that. And, if somehow you do manage to purchase one, rest assured it won't sell for the price I've just told you it will."

And that goes for Jensen, too.

In all honesty, I can't imagine why our gracious host continues to spend his presumably valuable time testing and reviewing products that predominantly exist only in Fantasyland. I know I damn-sure wouldn't bother.

    i think not
their policy of doing nothing and complaining has worked so far, everyone is thrashing nvidia.

not like it's gonna do much tbh anyway.even if nvidia is using cards that wouldn't qualify for geforce, miners will gobble that up and still buy every gaming gpu there is.it's just a fight you can't win when a card that's worth $700 to you is worth $1500 to someone else.

Same here, a guy was selling RX 580 Nitro SE brand new he had boxeS of this card, and have lost so much that he was selling all around 100 Euro because he need cash and second hand market were surcharged of GPU...
The most fun were the video of a guru of crypto crying in panic that said "i have lost so much"... Sad for him... Good for us.

That's not the problem. Root cause on why gamers do not have GPUs is because supply chain fails to work as intended.

If AMD/nVidia wants us to have gaming GPUs, they should make sure that every part of supply chain works towards that goal.
Now, AMD/nVidia do not have to hold AIBs, which F* us over, accountable. All they need to do is to tell us specifically how many GPUs they sell of each type to given AIB, and how many of those end up directly in hands of minors.

As long as thousands of pc users illegitimately or legitimately acquire new generation of gpus for msrp or even lower prices, AMD/Nvidia gets money. They do not care about happy gamers, only happy earnings.

Knowing the exact numbers would only allow us to curse more loudly, but that's it. It would change nothing. The companies wouldn't want to reveal them, though, for reasons of competitiveness.

The only two things really affecting this would be nerfing the cards for mining and producing a whole lot more of them. Apparently the first option wasn't so interesting, a sale is a sale (which also feeds the scalpers), and the second one is limited by component availability (GPU+everything else). A whole lot of industries are suffering from the lack of advanced semiconductor production, not just gamers, so it's all a part of a bigger picture. It's really miserable.

Scalpers would be easy to deal with if nobody simply bought from them. Though right now they can sell to miners if gamers don't buy, so it wouldn't really matter.
