    Lisa Su predictions were correct.
    HEDT needed badly a breakthrough, more cores at a reasonable price.
    AMD delivered and more. Future will show if data centers will adopt Rome and other iterations of AMD server platforms.

    No real suprises here, that CPU is a must for companies in this arena, and working from home? A lot of game developers got a boost because of this chip...sadly not me :(

    since nvme drives optic fiber 10gbit etc many where asking for more cpu lanes
    amd gave us pcie 4.0 and more cpu lanes, intel stayed on barely enough for a single gpu pcie 3.0 and slightly more useable but not that good HEDT worst decision ever in the industry

    can't wait for TR 5000 :)

    Intel stagnated for far too long and basically gave this market away with their pricing they've gotten better but not enough to compete last I checked

    AMD = workstation, desktop
    Intel = mobile

    Honestly this isn't that high considering Intel hasn't had an HEDT line for years. AMD still has some work to do.

    Cause TR proved intel was not viable anymore.

    So many big names places have dropped intel for workstations and servers. And rightfully so.

    You missed an important key word from the statement from Puget Systems.

    I'm aware I just was saying I expected it to be higher percentage for AMD. Intel has literally stopped making HEDT chips for years now. There is still 40% more market to obtain so that is good news for AMD.

    Workstations use Xeons though.

    Also, Puget are a tiny company that makes boutique systems for smaller businesses. HP, Dell, Lenovo, those are the ones to look for, they're the ones operating in the enterprise space, where the real money is made. There it doesn't really matter that you have hundreds of threads in a CPU or 128gb VRAM GPUs. 99% of your engineers and programmers will get the base model workstation, these days it's mostly mobile workstations too. So 4-8 core Xeon (probably 4 core since that's still the average Intel CPU now) with 32gigs RAM and the lowest end Quadro GPU, with 4gigs, maybe. Not sure what nVidia are strapping to their lowest end Quadros now, just imagined it might have gone up from the 2gb that used to be the entry level.

    Yeah, that is what you work with when you're in a big enterprise level company. The cheapest possible solution for everyone. You offload any serious calculations to the supercomputer or some very few shared systems with like Threadrippers or many-core Xeons in them.
