AMD Software Preview Driver May 2022 driver download and discussion

Yet another FineWine add-on for RX 5700 XT. This card started by competing with RTX 2070, but slowly though surely out did it, and today it's basically a little bit faster than RTX 2070 Super, depending on the selection of games of course, since you know, graphs can be tweaked. SAM support was the other reasonable performance boost beside regular drive optimizations - and now this DX11 optimization. Continous betterment of a product like this is unheard-of on the green side. Absolutely fantastic! The guys who do the work on this should be proud of themselves.

 

Teardown's never been particularly bad on my end, at least not since that 0.5.5 update. That's not to say it ran particularly well either.

 

A PCI driver also updated in this release its newly dated 02.2022 version 22.1.0

 

Who can share a amdkmpfd.sys driver file from this driver? a PCI BUS driver

 

Or you can look at it as finally addressing an old bottleneck in Windows.

As a side note, I retested DXVK Async 1.10.1 with these drivers, and it seems performance is a touch off, and mimics more of what it's like on the old DX setup, and not 100% 60 fps smooth. I wonder if some of this love needs to come over to Vulkan.

Just opened teardown and saw a HUGE improvement, usually its a low fps mess but somehow its way more stable.

no it wouldn't, both implementations are NDA/Vanguard knowledge only.

 

While getting free performance unexpected is always a good thing .... My more cynical view is that in general Nvidia seems to be doing better work with their release drivers extracting most of the performance the GPU is capable ... While amds cards have more juice under the hud AMD can not extract on release .... Giving Nvidia the edge on release reviews . Anyway I might be wrong

This is exactly what happens. For amd it takes time to mature their drivers while nvidia is just straight up "it just works".

There is no point in using Enhanced Sync now anyway.
It's yet to be decided if the feature will stay in future as an option in driver settings.

I reported this including the video via the bug report tool.
Haven't tested if the issue is because of AMD CHS shadows or just the driver, which, would be weird, because they seem to have tested the game with it.
Could be the card too, since it's RDNA1
