I use "DisplayCAL Profile Loader" which is part of the DisplayCAL program:

    DisplayCAL.jpg

It forces the specified ICC profile periodically (because Windows "forgets" the specified profile so often) and it works with games. Of course, you can associate different settings for different apps/games. It's free.

*EDIT* This is guaranteed to work every time.

    1. Find the games main .exe
    2. Right click on the .exe
    3. Click on properties in the menu that opens
    4. In the properties window that opens up click the 'Compatibility' tab
    5. Tick the box that says "Use legacy display ICC color management"
    6. Click Apply
    7. Click ok
    8. Done

Without that ticked you can see the game switch between profiles when changing volume or alt-tabbing when the games HDR is enabled.

Halo Infinite actually had a bit of a fight with DisplayCAL profile loader one time. My screen literally changed calibration 4 times before it settled with Halo Infinites brown turd color profile.

it's the first AMD drivers that stutter me after a while playing terribly, sometimes they released drivers that only crashed the browser .
I don't turn on frame rendering

I had an issue where the Edge browser introduced their video upscaling feature to the main release, so I had it on without noticing, and after about an hour of playing a game with a video in the background, I would get TDR issues. I hope the AMD implementation of VSR, which was supposed to come with the 23.40 branch, will recognize when a video is not on the screen and not waste resources on upscaling the video regardless.

I mean, this has been stated for a while, but I don't know if it's been implemented yet. I don't use AFMF at all, so I haven't tried it to verify if it's working on this driver yet, but you could try what's stated below.

23.40 has introduced new support for AMD Fluid Motion Frames to work with Vulkan, DX9, and OpenGL games. To enable the feature, please follow the instructions below.

Enabling All APIs for AMD Fluid Motion Frames Manually
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AMD\DVR
      • "GFGEnableAPI"=dword:00000007

I can play Doom Eternal again with AFMF with this 23.40.01.10 driver!

    DOOM Eternal_2024.01.10-03.14_1.jpg

It works thanks to the registry hack:
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AMD\DVR]
    "GFGEnableAPI"=dword:00000007
    (The source of the hack)

As they mentioned - it should work on Navi31+ and Phoenix+

What is the influence on AutoHDR? Does this eliminate the use of AutoHDR?

How it influences AutoHDR? If someone use's the Windows HDR calibration app and do the steps I posted, game's using AutoHDR(and native HDR) are always going to have proper HDR calibration and color.

Does it eliminate the use of AutoHDR? No.

Again, it's just a way to get certain games and apps to use ICC color profiles set up by the user, monitor software, etc.. Whether it's one created by a colorimeter, one a person has downloaded specifically for their monitor, Windows HDR calibration app profiles, etc.

Instant crash starting up valheim for example with AFMF enabled then it comes back and reports driver crash and freezes entire system.

edit: trying a 3e time it stopped crashing but afmf no longer works despite having done registery tweak

Already did but AMD is ignorant and always ignores my bug reports for exactly 1 and half year like they did with valheim and now with sons of the forest, they do not care they already have my money.

Get answer is not necessary the process during feedback user (yes it's not ideal)...

For summary your issue, Valheim and Sons of the forest crash when you enable AFMF ? Right ? and you have that with latest preview 23.40 AFMF ?
