Delete both entries and reboot. Hopefully it detects only one then and it sticks.

I have no idea how you are even getting 2 entries though.

Not that I'm aware of. Just google "AMD AFMF driver preview" and it took me to the right spot.

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-23-30-afmf-tech-preview

I went with one from "Cable Matters" that is supposedly "VESA certified" back in 2020. The cable has been solid and wasn't expensive.

I am unable to complete the installation of this tech preview driver on Windows 11. The installer works perfectly, but Bitdefender kills the installation at ~80% due to advanced threat defense detecting suspicious behavior. I have never had this issue with any other AMD driver, and I'm not sure how to proceed as I have no idea why THIS driver would trigger such a response.

My response was to Trunks, not the original post. In regards to the AFMF Preview Driver.

AV software being paranoid. Whitelist it or disable BD if you want to install the tech preview driver.

He can't overclock his VRAM without crashes when cards are installed into one of his other systems, I guess depending on the used monitor. At least that's what I would figure as the crucial difference between his different systems. He doesn't know why either, but probably another AMD dynamic VRAM clocking + some display timings/VRR issue.

It seems strange to me that reducing the refresh rate fixes the issue. His 1440p uw is fine while 4k black screens when vram is overclocked.

I said some time ago that their half-ass fixes will eventually bite them in the ass. Happened with AL+ and now with their "fix" for high idle mem clocks. I'm sure the problem that ancient gameplay is facing can also be fixed by disabling freesync (vrr)

Weird, neither have I. Potentially a false positive? maybe re-download the driver.

Yeah it's a bit of a mess really. Ffs I have to keep Freesync off to avoid screen corruption problems (that likely stem from VRAM clocks not knowing where to go, or VRR altering display timing, or both).

Btw I did fire up CRU out of curiosity and found something interesting about the G7: by default 1440p/240 is practically maxing out the pixel clock (max 980 MHz reported by CRU).
So I cannot set RB let alone RB2 or it would overshoot the pixel clock, likely why the panel uses custom timing.

I tried setting a manual timing with reduced vertical blanking that still keeps below 980 MHz but display showed a blank screen after.

Yeah it's the same with my monitor. If I use RB timings at 144Hz it exceeds the maximum pixel clock so I set a custom 142Hz refresh rate with RB timings so that it stays under 600MHz. Even at 143Hz it is under 600Mhz but it doesn't work (blank screen).

There is also a good thing about the half-assed features in the AMD drivers....they have awoken Battle(non)sense :D

Please tell me, is it only my 6800 XT that the textures of roads, bridges and railways in Warzone 2 flicker? Or is this a game problem?

FYI I got a grey screen hard crash with Edge all of a sudden. Some driver version a while back had this bug too (just worse).

Even if an isolated incident it was bit of a last straw moment.
I cannot use Freesync without screen corruption now since VRAM downclocking kicks in then, and in turn disabling Freesync forces max VRAM clock.
I still have rare-ish black screens regardless (cable has been changed twice).

Add to those the smaller occassional annoyances like Wattman resets, crashing Radeon Software, Relive problems, FRTC / Chill not working, plus mediocre RT performance and FSR being a bit so-so...
I've got a 4070 Ti coming in now as replacement.

Side grade / small upgrade in raster and yeah 4 GB less VRAM than 6800 XT, but I wanted to be somewhat price conscious and really want to be rid of the screen related problems, wasn't looking to upgrade.

12 GB should be enough for 1440p I hope and getting a big bump in RT performance and access to DLSS are welcome.

I don't regret getting the 6800 XT served me well for 2.5 years and AMD deserves support, but I really wanna get a reliably working system and so going back to NV to see if it works better for me (I don't recall having a single black screen or corruption problem with previous NV cards).

(And yeah NV cards are expensive, but the 4070 Ti was still almost half what I paid for the 6800 XT since I bought it during the worst GPU drought, lol).

Understandable. I think it will be fine until next gen (from nvidia) arrives. IMHO you will have to make compromises in certain games just like users of 8 GB VRAM cards do right now if you want to keep it for a longer period.

I don't remember having a single problem with my 6600 Xt and 6700 XT in two years excepting the past windows bug, I have freesync working perfectly with120 hz (don't know, but I don't think you can complaint with 120 hz display), Maybe the problem is the freedom AMD gives us to tinker with our GPUs, that's why Nvidia blocks undervolting, etc..Nvidiosos meddle with Afterburner and don't blame Nvidia drivers for problems.

P.D.: By the way, I think changing a 16 GB card for another more expensive 12 GB card is an epic fail. You'll regret it very soon with textures and Ray Tracing.

Having no issues or having issues with AMD cards depends a lot on the monitor that you have. And if one encounters issues it also depends if he can be bothered to search for fixes and workarounds or just straight up returns it and goes back to nvidia. AMD is just dumb for not fixing this $@$# for over 4 years. There is no excuse.
