Seems like the RX 470 is able to run off of a single 6 pin power connector unlike the RX480.

    That's bs.
By now everything has been cleared up already. RX480 is not held back by the pcie cable nor is the high powerdraw a concern. Read the news.
+ there's a driver fix if <150W is something you worry about.

From what I've seen, it will equal the 970 in DX 11 and beat it in DX 12 and Vulkan. It shows as being about 75-80% faster than my 270X where the 480 hits almost double what the 270X does.

The extra power draw was no bs for sure. But it wasn't such a disaster that a lot of people made it out to be.

The 4gbs pop up in stores in germany at times for 219€ and disappear almost instantly. :D

You just described the RX 480 , RX 470 will be slower

Since the GTX 1060 will have no SLI, I'm really curious to see how RX 470 performs in CF. With AMD cards you don't need some added bridge. If CF RX 470 can come even 10% of a 1070 huuuuuge win, imo.

Come on man, thats an exaggeration. Not with that specs.

470 will sit somewhere between 280X and 290 which is not bad also.

290 is quite a bit slower then rx 480 tho in it's stock form. And when he talks about dx12 he does not talk about rottr. rx 470 could very well be 290 level if it has 1266 core clock. And 970 in its stock form does not compete with rx 480, it needs evga ssc level clock to compete.

@Undying well consider 290 is 947mhz on the core. Stock 970 is 1178 max boost. 1266 would be faster in tflop performance to a 290 with better tesselation and weaker pixel pushing powers :D and less tmus.

If a 1.3GHz 480 can be on average faster than the 390/970, the 470 should be on the same class as the 290. I'll wait for benches, but I can see it easily getting the 970 on DX12/Vulkan games. The car is not as "cut" as people believe. It's still 2048 shader processors, virtually the same memory bandwidth and the rest as the 480. It's much more capable than the 7870/7970 situation used to be back then. It's closer to the 7950/7970, 290/290x situation.

That's kinda my point. If the 480 was named the 480X, the 470 could be the 480. It's not half the chip like Pitcairn was to Tahiti.

Here GTX 1060 is priced same as 4GB RX 480
I guess same thing will happen with RX 470
Too bad for AMD other than fanboys no one will buy it.

I shall wait patiently for RX470. And I shall wait a little longer for a custom MSI RX470. Hopefully it does. Must not go green again.

I'm talking about cards that run properly out of the box without the needing for a fix. The RX470 fits that mold. Plus I know about the fix AMD is working on for the RX480. So I do not need to read the news.
