No info on Pricing but they hinted the prices will be higher than their current CPUs.
I hope the desktop Zens will not suck and come out as really solid and competitive products. The market needs it.

I'm not too worried about that. AMD isn't in a position to be greedy. Even if Summit Ridge is faster than it's Intel counterpart (which I'm not expecting), it will still need to be priced lower. AMD needs to convince people they have a good product, and the easiest way to get uninformed people to try you over a competitor is a lower price.

I'm most likely going to get myself a Summit Ridge CPU. As long as the worst-case scenario performance is within 15% of a competing Skylake, I'm happy. I hope they'll offer a 6C-12T option though - 8C-16T is overkill for my needs. I'm currently happy with the performance of my current setup, but one of the main reasons for me wanting to upgrade is power efficiency, so I don't think an octa-core is going to help much with that.

All they need to do is have the same performance as Intel's latest CPU's, but undercut them with the price. It doesn't have to be a lot, just a few bucks and they are in for a big win.

    **** i feel so old now... :pc1:

I have lived the Opty era, when intel was only outsider on the pro market... :wanker:

*edit* btw i hope AMD's zen pro are really powerfull and energy friendly... because on pro segment Intel is way more agressive than on main segment. (and i don't say that because i am blue since years lol).

While this is true they also can't afford to sell at a loss either. The have a lot of money tied up in R&D and production they can't wait five years to turn a profit.

Hi Guys, today I own a Phenom II X4 965, basically an 7 years old processor.
I really would like to go again with AMD, but it is kind of hard to wait for Zen right now, no release date so far.
What would you guys recommend, wait or buy an i7 6700k that I've found for a good price, but not that cheap ... thanks ...

    Wait.

Kabylake is just around the corner too -- and even if Zen doesn't manage to one up Intel, at the very least it's going to force them to drop prices.

I wish ZEN is at least as efficient as current Intel offerings. I sold my 8350 and settled for an i5 4440 only because of efficiency.

I tell you now even if it's twice as fast as intel some people will just not buy it. Soem of my friends won't even buy anything AMD related even if the gpu is twice as fast. They just refuse to and will always make up excuses. That's the problem with the world of today and you get it with almost any product not just IT related stuff. I also have a friend that raves about ASUS products but when I still had my MSI motherboard with even a slower CPU (me:4790k him 5820k) I actually had better performance than him just because my GPU stock boost was faster than his and even overclock better and his running a 980 ti Poseidon platinum. I just laugh cause my machine was way less expensive.

Some people, maybe, but in general, despite being the largest of the three, Intel has the smallest fanbase. I think deep down inside, every single gamer that's been around since the Athlon 64 days want's AMD to just completely ruin Intel's ****.

I do aggree in a certain extent:

On the gamers and enthusiast side, if AMD pull a cpu faster of the Intel counterpart, as with the Newcastle, Barton, AthlonXP, K8 A64 days, they will buy it. This said, on the "global " consumers space that will be a different story, not because Intel willl reiterate his old practice, but because in this space, they absolutely dont have a clue of what they run as system. most of their notebook, Macbook, desktop have certainly run with Intel cpu based, and this is surely all they know. ( if they know it, or just ( my previous system have a i3 things in it ).

What i find funny, and maybe nobody have take care of it, the first AMD CPU have been presented during an Intel convention, AMD guys had rent a small hotel room close the convention and was doing a presentation of this new CPU ( i remember AMD peoples who was invit the peoples directly in the Intel convention ). They had so much stole the attention, everyone was just write and speaking about thoses incredible CPU they had seen working in this small hotel room..
