That's an interesting observation. Let's wait and see what the benchmarks tell us. The 1700 might just be the deal of the century.

The binning as to be something special to make up for the higher price... For me the 1700 is the most interesting of the bunch and with a little overclock it can perform as well as the 1700X or even the 1800X.
Unless there´s some truth to the claims of some professional overclockers that are saying that the OC headroom of Ryzen chips is minimal. But in a week everything will be revealed.

I just remembered the unlockable tri-cores, the Radeon 9500, the 6950, the 4GB 480. There seems to be a bit of a pattern.

Not really, i´m also not preordering. I´m interested in the 1700 but i´m gonna wait for actual reviews to see if it´s worth to spend so much money on a CPU...

I am pretty good on the cpu/mb now but I really wanna hop on the v2 versions of some mb's later on.
I mean if they are decent, I wonder what the big one does in 3d vantage cpu tests

No but I'm pretty sure that it doesn't need a monster cooler to reach that speed (after that though overclocking may be exponentially harder).

4ghz doesn't seem like it's all that high compared to other series, but I guess more efficient cores at lower frequencies that equal higher IPC are always better.

At this point it's just a numbers game! lol

Hmmm. Seems like the 1700 tops out between 3.9-4.1.

Not tragic but I expected better. Will wait to see how the 1700x fares.

Hmm as i am looking for a new MB i stubled upon X370-XPOWER-GAMING-TITANIUM, as most of us know MSI has an automatic overclocking knob, and on the product site max lvl with the knob oc looks like 4,4 ghz on the 1800x, lets hope its not as optimistic as 5,2 ghz on the kaby lake oc.

I wonder how Intel will respond to Ryzen. Obviously the 7740K and 7640K wont cut it :D. Massive price cuts on Broadwell-E line?

No way Intel gonna make price cuts. At least not big ones. Their brand is too strong and their marketing as well. They will keep selling CPUs and maybe they will answer with more cores in 1 year or 2.

That's a big part of what has me waiting. I'm also hoping nicer boards with a PCI slot will roll around so I can keep my soundcard.

So, no quad channel on DDR4, only dual channel?

Okay...so correct me if I'm wrong, but these are all identical chips except for binning?

they all have different speeds, the X are binned, no different then really any other differences in processors

More or less yes. Only 1700 differs that it cannot "surpass" its maximum multiplier automatically as extra boost like 1700X/1800X because of XFR which allows better binned chips for more wattage and oc'ing potential/stability.
