AM4 outselling AM5 and RPL by big margin, AM5 motherboard needs a heavy price cuts.

If the CPU prices will remain like that after Black Friday, as well as the motherboard prices will drop, AM5 will finally be a very competitive platform even before X3D.

Cut them again and also the mbs, then we can talk again.

Prices are fine, but some people insist on upgrading every generation.

I keep my CPU 6-8 years.

My office, which used to care only about Outlook and MS Office, used to upgrade more often than that.

Prices are a little higher than they should but the biggest issue is the prices of MBs.

In my case, if I can get the 7700 for less than 400 euros and a decent board for less than 250 euros, then I might go with AMD this time.

Good. They need to clear inventory before the launch of 3d cache CPUs anyway...

It's a good thing, however the most expensive part of this platform upgrade are the motherboards, whose prices are entirely dependent on board partners and I doubt there will be any price drops from them.

Zen 4 prices are reaching the level they should have been in the first place.

If only the motherboards would follow soon...

Price drops are always good for consumers.
    Now onwards to GPUs. :D

Not sure if in the office for Outlook and Office you all get i7 and i9s.
But if you upgrade every generation of MS Office suite that is probably larger every refresh, and you have i3s and some cool person gets an i5 that is all i have seen in offices, well then yes, upgrade often

Just checked and yes, 7600x is now tempting, but the mobos are still at least 50 to much.

Despite prices starting to level off a little bit for the processors I am going to hold out for the 3D range from AMD as I primarily game off my computer and do minor production level work as a hobby or on-calls.

Maybe by the time the 3D procs release motherboard prices will even off a bit with DDR5 costs as well.

    Nah we get i5s , that's true.
Still as a casual enthusiast and hobby I do upgrade like every 2-3 years.
Not that often lately since I'm getting older and bored lol.

The 7700X is now $350 at some stores. Wasn't the 7700 rumored to be around $330? I assume whenever that gets released, its price will have to be pushed down further.

So far, the price of the 7000 series now is pretty much what it should have been on release day.

Let's say you want 32GB of RAM. With DDR5 over DDR4 you need to pay an extra 100$.
The difference between B650 and B550 is also 100$.

A barely 100$ price drop on the CPU is not going to move the needle much. Especially considering how flawed the RTX 4000 series availability is. And you'll have to call me pessimist but I severely doubt that AMD GPU pricing will be anything but in line with Nvidia pricing.

Chances are that both the general public and even companies would rather buy last gen components for cheap over current gen stuff. And unless if really fits your use case forking over an extra 100$ or more is probably not appealing to you either.

Well, i`ve just checked the prices in Portugal and the CPUs are already cheaper, the 7600X now starts at 293€, the 7700X at 436€ and the 6900X at 594€.

I`M thinking about a 7700X, because i want an octa core CPU to replace my 7600K, but the 7600X is looking tempting, specially as i could buy one now and the replace it with 3D version later.

In Portugal i can already get good 32Gb DDR5 kits for around 200€, so is not that expensive.

The (big) problem is that MBs prices are the same as always, too expensive...

BTW, the long boot times issues have already been sorted out or do we still have to wait a minute to start the system?...
