AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and Ryzen 7 5800X prices are decreasing significantly.

12400 has zero e cores

 

I would need to see that max tune vs max tune /$ total platform cost. It might not look that colorful for intel , but i still think intel would win *DDR4 of course.

 

why ? there are 180eur asrock boards that allow for bclk oc.and they're pcie 5.0
afaik 5600x doesn't overclock 25%,if you need to see the results then just see 12600K oc'd,that would be about the same except for e-cores,which make no difference.

this is with ddr5 4400,which is an absolute turd.

But as they don't, i stay with the 5900X (very happy with it) until next new full config.

Also to know very well Intel and AMD side, the % of OC doesn't mean more than what it mean...
If you OC an Intel or an AMD by 10% on both CPU, you will get different result in gain depending on CPU... And also none of gain represent 10% more power, it's just 10% of frequency gain.

that's why I pointed to 12600K oc,since the difference between 12600 and 12400 running at +5GHz is gonna be margin of error

still,I'd rather have at least an 8/16 for framerate/time consistency.even if it comes at the cost of a few fps,we're looking at cpus that will do +150fps average already.also,I think I may wanna look into getting a 16->32 ram upgrade for my 10700 instead of just a faster cpu.high speed ddr4 kits are selling for extremely good prices these days,look at what you can have under 200eur,a 32gb 4400 c19 kit for 166eur.There's also a 4400 c16 version selling in Poland for 190eur.

WIth a 5800X the price is compensated by having to buy a AIO to keep it cool

 

dual tower will do,and whoever buys a 5800x has got to have the budget for that.
not even that,check the freezer 34,this is less than 50eur

i always liked the bequiet one.easy to work with and I ran it for 3 years without performance degradation on 5775c with 1.385v oc.after 3 years when I removed the cooler it came off pretty easily,and it wasn't too dry.
I hate the noctua paste,dried within a year and showed some massive temp degradation on two cores.
gelid extreme is super good but it's very thin.
I think bq dc1 is just very good all round,hard to find anything wrong with it.

 

I'd feel silly not getting an X3D chip so meh i'll hang on to my 3700X which just so happens to be driving my recently acquired 3090 I rescued from my cousin who had it mining for the last 6 months.

 

I’ve been keeping up but still can’t find enough if For my potential needs besides gaming itself as I use more applications than gaming. I’ll use examples of what I use because it’s coming down to they point of getting a 5950x vs the 5800x3d. Apps I use for transcoding and this isnt a few files I have thousands of files and i am always updating. I use a 3900x attic freezer ii aio 360mm with thermal grizzly kryonaut extreme just repasted a month ago actually

aimp converter - this is highly cpu intensive and will max it out for how many thread you have this one is important to know how vcache would help or not. This one takes a lot of time especially if I am converting 100s of gb or more At a time and some music files are 500mb because they are dsd and I have to convert them to 192khz / 32bit float point which one song can take up to one minute. I’ve seen this take up to one hour in my 3900x for like 100gb.

Mkvtoolsnix - converts files or stopping audio and subs to save space transcode to make a new file. Seq speeds make a difference also as I had a raid 0 with firecuda 530 and then returned them back.

Rpcs3 emulator (games use up to 8cores however to load the preq for it to start goes off threads and depending on the amount could take double the time which is maybe a few more minutes and this isn’t normal gaming it’s emulators.

stacraft 2 - uses single core does vcache even help this for fps being single core? Same with other emulators that run single core or quad but these single cores and dual core emulators I am curious about for older generation gaming.

There are other projects and gaming I do but stacking these pros and cons and the unknown variables is why I am asking on here.

If someone could let me know what they think based of the applications I use would be nice to determine if I should go the 5950x route or the 5800x3d. If the vcache helps emulators I’d be done for it and take the hit in the transcoding but if not or doesn’t help Starcraft 2 for example running single core then it’s kinda pointless for me and an5950x would be better having a higher clock freq.

thanks! I had to trade him 3x cards(roughly equal to the 3090 in MH) and some cash but I got my shot at owning the near top card of a series before the next gen came out for once. Also it was killing me to know he was killing that poor card for a few buck a day.

 

Why we still debade gaming performance on the 5600x and 12400 ? I understand the hobby but with the cards those get paired is pointless. So honestly they are equal and oc on em is pointless.

 

If i wasn't already getting 240 fps then i'd probably buy the X3D and get a small boost.

Handy thing with this set up is if i can't reach 240 fps then i can just use half refresh and just lock it to 120 fps or 144 fps like i have to with GTA 5.

I went for 1440p because for me the performance of AMD cpus @ 4k isn't quite there yet. I could do 4k 120hz no problem but finding the right 4k monitor is meh.

Most 4k monitors are crap or just plain too expensive for what they are. I think 100% that 60hz to 144hz is very noticeable for those with good eyes but from 144 - 240hz/fps i don't see it personally.

 

If you have an AM4 already this is going to be a cheap upgrade to swap to, the Intel its not just the Chip its the whole shebang to buy and knowing the AM5 and the next Ryzen is round the corner at 5ghz all core hmm I would wait a few months, I have 5900x a 3090 and a x570 so I wont be changing for a while I dont think.

 

There's no rush for anyone who's bought a new CPU in the last two to three years. Unless you're an "enthusiast", obviously. God, imagine owning anything less than a 12900K, Jesus wept.
