Well unfortunately G3D don't allow you to comment any other way on articles...

Naive and idiotic is assuming that only YOU have noticed that. Ah well just saw your nick name, as expected.

In any case yes, Intel will come up with something, however once is certain for sure, there will be major Intel price drops, and that is Good for everyone.

You're making assumptions, did I at any point say I'm the only person that has noticed? No, how did you even come to that conclusion? It was aimed at the people making ridiculous Intel's is doomed statements. I wish G3D had a normal commenting system. Forums always brings out the "I need to make crap up and start an armchair war" types.

Well if current benchmarks are true, then it does put Intel in difficult situation.

I don't know if it's that simple. Intel has far more overhead than AMD. AMD is running extremely lean right now. Plus I don't think Shareholders would be too happy if Intel all of a sudden cut profits drastically.

Everyone knows Intel has been price gouging as hard as they can since 2006 when Core 2 was shat out. It's all calculated, they estimate as far as they can push prices before their profits begin to drop. They don't give a **** if they can sell more units at a lower price resulting in the same profit; it's all about keeping both price and profit as high as they can. I think they went too far though and actually lost profit due to their retarded prices.

Great for AMD and great for everyone

i will take the benchmarks serius after 2 march

but regardless the price is fantastic if intel forces the 6900k to 700 ou 650€ i will pick one up for my Asrock Mini ITx that as a 5820k right now

also i should have waited paid 1900€ for my 6950X prices might come down on the X also

    cheers

Jesus why all the hate on Intel all of a sudden?! They did what ANY company would have done in that position (milk the customers) but let's not forget they did alot of good things as well.

No they are NOT doomed this is actually good thing for them free publicity.I like both brands and can honestly say (Intel) is the overall better performer.

Thing is, that if maximization of profit came at cost of selling twice as many CPUs, then long term profit would go down as not that many people would need upgrade.

Take it this way. If RyZen is great and AMD completely saturates market desire in one year. Where will sales for next year come from?
Intel optimized investment to profit ratio and with those 5~15% performance upgrades per iteration of architecture, they harvested everyone at maximum profit.
People realized that next chip will not be magically better or cheaper, so they bought best chip they considered at reasonable price in moment they saw sufficient upgrade.
For some it is 10% improvement, for others it is 50%.

I know that even with OC, new i5 would give me around 75% boost in SP & MT performance (which is great). But if RyZen holds true, it will be 100~150% boost with 1600X at same cost of platform upgrade (CPU, MB, RAM).
They bought Havok Physics in 2007 and canned it in 2011. They are evil. MS has got Havok in 2015. Not that there is any officially known new version since one has to pay and probably sign some NDA stuff.
Tho, I would not hate them for it as there is still Bullet Physics.

But I dislike intel for their TDP magic numbers. People think that those CPUs of theirs are great and take TDP/SDP values as similar/same thing.
Intel sells 10W TDP chips without telling you that they are 10W chips, instead they use 2W SDP sticker and let you enjoy throttling and/or reduced battery life.

Standard business practice for any successful business, unfortunately.
Yes competition and customer loyalty play a part but the above statement remains true irrespective.

I don´t know about you guys but for me Ryzen seems to good to be true right now. Every leak only brings good news about it and i´m still to see any negative facts about it... And then there are the prices that are too low for the performance numbers that are being leaked! If Ryzen is that good then AMD should be selling them at 70% or 80% of Intel´s cpus, not sell them at half the price, that´s simply a bad move from AMD that can make much more money out of them... Unless the cpus aren´t as good as all the leaks seem to imply...

Maybe i´m being too negative/pessimistic and everything about Ryzen is real but still i´m finding all this too good to be real... Good thing that in 8 days we can confirm if all this is true or not.

The negatives come about if you see it as an X99 competitor, as it seems to be making socket 115x obsolete. In that front, it lacks quad channel memory, potential memory capacity (I bet its max is something like 64GB), and its AVX unit is 128 bit. This is it, pretty much.

So what you are essentially saying is that Intel is the only company in the world that can invent/produce CPUs with the apparent throughput that the unofficial benchmarks appear to be showing.
As far as prices are concerned, 70% to 80% of Intel's prices wouldn't be enough of a "kick in the pants" for a lot of people. Gotta shake up the pricing model. AMD should charge more? Why. If they manage to capture 40% of Intel's marketshare that would be preferable to a much lower percentage at higher prices. AMD knows that in a lot of cases people willl have to buy a complete system (motherboard + RAM) with their CPU and are adjusting their prices accordingly. Then, with the AM4 socket firmly entrenched they have an advantage over Intel.
I know what you mean about scepticism but my fingers are crossed too.

Don't worry, you have just been successfully brainwashed through and through by Intel. The prices and specs AMD is presenting now are what we should have been getting from Intel as well years ago. This pure stagnation in the CPU market happened because of AMD's mistakes with their previous failure of an architecture, which allowed Intel to stop the development and concentrate on nothing but their greed for money. Now, it's the job of a business to make money, but things go wrong when consumers don't get what they deserve for the money spent.

It has been said multiple times before, but it's sick how a single CPU with much less transistors than a GPU can still cost more than a whole video card that also includes the memory, the PCB, the cooling elements, the VRM, etc. So, please don't tell me that Intel's ridiculous prices are the normal situation and what AMD should thus also be aiming for. Intel's prices are akin to the methods of those shady never-heard-of companies that somehow acquire the patent to a particular medicine and then promptly increase the price of a single dose some 5000% overnight.

Also X99 has more PCIe lines with the ACS on the CPU root port and support 8x/8x/8x at least for 3 GPU builds.
This annoys me to no end as the mainstream CPUs dont support ACS and I could not find MB that support 8x/4x/4x from CPU last time I upgraded.
Not to mention I had to get non-K model to get Vt-D support.
But most people dont run VMs.
I hope Ryzen is at least better than mainstream Intel for VMs or bring the X99 prices down.
