I'm really interested in the Sapphire Dual-X RX470 which I'm sure will come. It should have a small overclock built in and would be a really good upgrade from my R9-270X. I'm wondering a little how my MB with the 760/780 chipset and my CPU will work with it. The system runs really well now and so far has played everything I've tried more than acceptably. The 470 would be a lot more powerful and at the same time , use less power and probably run cooler. I don't think I really need the 480. The 460 just isn't for me but it does look nice.

Why didn't they cut that PCIE connector?

Even though it only uses most bandwidth for x8 slot, most people are going to use it in an x16 slot. Makes sense to keep it secured.

Becouse with wider length its more sturdy. It wont bend as much on pcie slot.

Meh... I don't think physical security is that good of a reason. I mean, look at Sapphires Tri-X cards. The 16x slot is puny compared to that mammoth, and it still holds up fine.

To me, I think the reason is more that physical 8x slots pretty much don't exist on anything but servers (and even then, they're rare) and it would probably cost Sapphire more money to tweak and test the physical design than they would save on just cutting off a handful of unused pins. PCBs aren't expensive, it's getting everything on them that costs a lot.

Ah yes, another retard card, long ass pcb, 2 fans, and x8 connectors.

I would like to shake the hand of the retard who made this, as well as shake the hands of the retarded parents who got together to **** to make the retarded child. Retards, retards everywhere.

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to make it shorter?

    exactly!!!!

  13. But of course this is the only model of RX 460 that will be sold.
And in the second image you can see the entire aft section of the card almost completely devoid of components. All this courtesy of AMD and Sapphire to piss you off.

Lisa Su says no short card for you

Marketing. To those that don't know any better, this card might look good cause of size.
To those actually looking for a small card, they'll get to sell that card for more money since "it's more of a niche product".
