AMD Radeon Software - Preview Drivers - DCH/UWP

Discussion in 'Videocards - AMD Radeon Drivers Section' started by MerolaC, Apr 8, 2021.

  1. I noticed something similar last night with a RX 580 and TCL 55S405 TV, but this was with 21.8.1 (not UWP) and it only affected one of my resolutions (1440p). If I selected 1440p full-screen, the display would go to 4K for the active signal and the GPU would scale it to 1440p, even with the GPU scaling option in Radeon Software disabled. If I select 1080p though, the display would go to 1080p for the active signal as-expected.

I'm not sure if my TV has1440p as a supported resolution, but it's possible AMD automatically does GPU scaling for unsupported resolutions.

How do I removed this? The entry for AMD Link For Windows.

    *edit*

I've figured out how to remove both at the same time, but not the one by itself... as far as I can tell one entry "ACE" controls both entries with this UWP version of the driver / software.

    Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ACE

It's the little things like this that drives me a little bit more insane every day.

I simply use RadeonSoftwareSlimmer and it wont show up. By the way, AMD has such good drivers for Windows 10. Watching videos wont use 100% of power on your card. The drivers for Windows 11 (yes i know BETA) are different. Using full power on 160HZ watching simple videos. This can get fixed. I trust in AMD.
    Cheers.

Ha didn't install UWP yet because of the issue with movies. need to investigate why it happens, if I can't fix it I'll need to watch movies with the Photo&Movies app and not Potplayer + madVR

Newer version has come out this morning for me (Windows 11 Beta Channel):

    upload_2021-8-21_9-26-44.png

Sadly the AMD Software doesn't work with that version again. It automatically installed via Win Updates.
Will DDU it, and install it again. Hopefully the Software will work then.

Is there any tutorial on how to extract the driver files in order to upload them for everyone? I want to obtain those .inf files to share with everyone.

EDIT: Even after DDU previous driver, and letting Windows install this version, the AMD Software isn't installed :(

The bug from the previous version with the missing mouse pointeсдr in game menus (when metrics overlay is on) is still there. :(
I just tried to check if the bug exists on Win10. I couldn't display metrics overlay at all on Win10.

P.S. I just made a new clean installation of Win11 (22000.160) with the new 30.0.13011.1004 driver and... everything works fine. I have a mouse pointer in game menus.
I just used DDU on the old Windows (with the problem) and after that, the new driver works fine without the mouse issue.

So the new driver fixes the problem with the mouse pointer. Just the old drivers should be removed completely with DDU.

Absolutely yes. I just had an issue because I had forgotten to use DDU. Windows had installed the new driver on top of the old one.

Yes, right now on Win11 no HAGS support....

Does anyone know why the Win11 Driver dont have the Driver for AMD USM USCI Device / AMD Radeon LED (USB HID)? (What in hell is this even for?)

GPU-Z shows HAGS as supported but OFF. Could be false information tho

I install the USB driver from the official Adrenalin drivers (from SBDrv subdirectory). It's used as I know just for the RGB lights on the card. PowerColor has a separate tool for the RGB of my Red Devil card but it needs the USB driver to access the RGB lights.
