Ha, sorry! Completely missed the sarcasm, d'oh! :heh: @Cowie...I don't doubt that if my fans were stuck at 20% my card(s) would fry, and for sure those whose cards were stuck at 20% would be annoyed. Personally I was not one, and now the 'hot'-fix is in it should hopefully be sorted now anyway. If your fans are stuck at 20% and Powertune is not kicking in properly with those drivers for you then absolutely it's a problem and if it was me I would be screaming at AMD for sure!
My R9 290 went suspiciously slient after installing Crimson while playing AC Syndicate. After a while it started stuttering. I exited the game and behold, MSI Afterburner reported 94C and only ~400 Mhz on core clock. So i enabled custom fan settings and everything worked fine. Even better actually. Now my card runs ~80C, fan is a bit louder but its not a concern to me.....exept its lifespan maybe.... Anyways, downloading fix....
Yes, which is why I haven't bought one of their cards for 5 years My point is you can kill any card this way, the pcb is a bunch of copper tracks - it's basically a heatsink. Just because the gpu has thermal protection doesn't mean other components are safe. To suggest otherwise goes against the laws of physics.
Just messing with ya! If i could i would have gotten nvidia. But the fact is in Serbia nvidia is almost twice as expensive as AMD. Fot the price of GTX 970 you could buy 290X and then some. Anyways, i also had a fan problem with this driver but fortunately it didn't kill my card. That is what Afterburner is for
My Windows 10 x64 got BSOD while playing Fallout 4 after I updated to this Hotfix. After I tried to DDU it and install this Hotfix then I found out that if I installed 15.11.1 hotfix directly then there won't be AMD Redeon Settings in Context Menu (right click at desktop) and Video Profile will be blank. The only way to make it install properly is to install 15.11 first then install 15.11.1 hotfix on top of 15.11. Anyone else got the same issue with me?
Well, you don't " need " to. But if I'm not wrong, your card is now classified as Legacy by AMD. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows+7+-+64 But still seems like it can use the Crimson software. Of course, if you did install the crimson software, then yeah. I'd wholly recommend getting the hotfix..
I already installed crimson. But on the hotfix supported card list is from hd 7... series cards. Confusing???
This should not be the case. Drivers are always the full package even if it is a hotfix release. I always run DDU in safe mode, reboot, install driver, and reboot again. Never had an issue with this. Make sure your DDU is fully up to date.
